GPL YASD (yet another struggling driver)

I have reached some kind of barrier in term of speed and I seem not
to be able to go any faster. Before I've used Maxx's GPLEGS and
I believe they helped me and I have learned lessons. Now my GPLRank
is stuck in mid-thirties and the way I drive I don't think I can
get any significant improvement (except 'Ring and Monaco which would
probably allow me to get close to -40) without changing something.
I mostly drive 85/30/4 setups, though I tried 60/45 and 60/60
variations which I seem not to be able to master. Are low/high/1
setups is a must to go faster? Any advices will be appreciated,
however be warned that your helpful advices might be used against
you on the track ;>

I also wonder how have fast guys achieved they ranks in minus
50, 60 etc? Was it a quick learning toward such times or difficult
path with barriers and hurdles? ;>

Thanks in advance,
Alex

I finally got to -50 but it took a Loooong time, started with the GPL demo
in '98.  I think you slowly learn things as you drive, these little
ideas/lessons learned add up over time and result in lower lap times.  If
you can get to -40 just by working on the Ring and Monaco you're already
pretty quick.  I'd learn the Ring because it takes good overall skill and
makes you concentrate which is good for longer races.  Don't hotlap in the
Lotus, I learned in the Cooper and then just did a bunch of laps in the
Lotus at each track for my GPL rank.  Use 85/45 for the slower tracks and
try out 60/45 on the faster tracks like Monza, it helps fight understeer in
high speed turns but might be a little prone to oversteer on the slower
corners.
