1100 hits in the first 10 minutes - I guess that qualifies as popular! ; )

Well, if you're not interested in car physics or graphics, nothing.

And BTW if you are really determined to get this today I would highly
recommend using GetRight or something similar so you can link multiple
mirrors and so you won't lose anything if one of them crashes.

I tried every one and half of them were transferring at UNDER 1KB/Sec, and
the rest didn't work at all.  Only one could even be considered at 17KB/Sec,
but at that speed it would take 6.3 hours to download.

Started DAP(download Accelerator Plus) and went to work.  Came home, DAP
had crapped out and the dload was barely started.   Turned off DAP.
Checked out the threads..saw at least 4 or 5 "fast" servers.  None
responded.  Check email.  Found another server...could not display the dload
page.
Finally got a good dload going from the Racesim server.   ate Dinner.
Checked the dload progress, made some silly posts, cleaned up some of the
upstairs.  Checked the dload....checked the dload.   HEY!  it's stopped!!
stopped with only 4% left  arggghhhh.  Cancel  restart....What NO RESUME?
click click two boxes dloading....cancel the slow one...wait the 2nd box is
resuming the big dload...thanks MS(did I just say that?) dload
complete...double clik on the icon.....hmmmm double click on the
icon.....errrrrr  dammit icon I'm double clicking on you do your
thing.....aahhhh the box has been on all day...dloads all over...just
re-boot...BEEEEEEP!!!  disk error...run scan disk....
ok ok  there scan disk fini...what?  it's doing the full disk surface scan?
no whay in heck I can wait that long...cancel...reboot.  double clik on the
GTR 2002 icon...nothing...except the HD light is going BONKERS!
wait...wait.....LOGO!  Install...new driver....blech!  yellow
Porshee...change car...hmmm screen's a-bit fuzzy..clik ok...blech yellow
Porche still...change car & driver...ahhaa crapola  just get it on the
track.  Yellow Porshee crawls out of pitlane...FPS counter on...16?
Six-Freakin-S***?  make a note...turn off the stoopid Nividiot fsaa.  now
hit the gas..........
......
....
shouldn't the rev counter lights be---whooooaaa!
turbo!  I've heard of these things..I think the Millenium Falcon had one
didn't it?   FPS still 16  turbo seems to be one from a worn out
Yugo...exit...fix graphics...check fsaa off, vsync off...back to sim.  <wife
wants something>  ahhhh much better fps now...change car...hey it works this
time...now the 360 Modena....nice very nice...seems to attract gravel traps.
Now the big boy...You know I could only hold out sooooo long...rumble rumble
rumble   ohhhhbayyybee the Viper is hungry.  Squirt, turn, squit slide hit
something...slide..handling seems funny...slide,  diggin into the
curbs...what?  Flat tire?  yup  flashing on the dash..left front is gone.
back to the pits...then some real laps...feels sorta like FIA V3 but
more...more of just about everything...Closest comparo I can think of is
N2k2.  Change cars...hey the Lambo sounds gooood...but SUGO still has the
***ING chicane at the end of the lap...PUHlease somebody edit that ***
out of there...(oh and short versions of Brands, Donney and Mugy would be
nice!)  Change to the Beeg Ferrari :: 550 is a screamer.  (early
votes...ViperRumble 1st...:Lambo 2nd...gonna have to revisit the turbo with
better framerate to guage that one)
OK whats to gripe about...??  The car change screens seem dodgy..like they
aren't fully re-drawing.  some overlap from previous screens  maybe.  My
driving sucks.   all else seems better than good.
It lacks the 'throw the car at the curve grip of SSM & SCP, but isn't as
ICEY as FIA GT was.
<better go see what the wife wanted>
(broken toe?){tape it sweetie}
off to dreamland...thanks Simbin(ISI)

Good story Dave...  But if you like the Lambo sound, you really need to do a
turn in the Marcos. Even if it is too ugly for words. :-)  And be sure to
try the Viper in monsoon conditions.  With TC OFF, of course...

Q: What's your take on how driving an N-GT car compares with the V2.0 DTM
mod for NH that you guys used for TPTCC; say, at Mugello?  I don't have Heat
on my current PC, but the RWD cars are quite similar and memory has that mod
comparing quite favorably.  Am I just being sentimental?

Thx,

SB

By the way; great job, SBDT!  I'm running 30 cars at the moment and getting
better FPS than with 22 F1's in the original game, and the AI seems MUCH
improved so far.

I think they are hard to compare.  Heat has a different feel from the
wheel.  I usually have to de-compress my driving if I've been messing with
an EA mod and then have to get ready for a TPTCC league race with
DTM-Heat.(If you peek at the standings you'll see I'm not de-compressing
very well either!)
I did run Mugello(or Muggy as I like to call it) and found the extra
detail around the track almost made it unrecognizable.  Took me about 2 laps
to realize where I was.
Because of the difference in traction I think you have to drive
differently as well.  With DTM I'm trying to use the brakes very
little...really just to set the car into a corner.  GTR is more of the
traditional brake/turn/accell feel.  I think with DTM 2.3 you can get away
with more overdriving, you will kill your laptime--but you won't swap ends.
With GTR I've driven too hard into a turn and gone 'round several times
already.
IF we could reliably get the pack sizes in GTR that we have in Heat..I'd
probably vote for a switch after the season was over...but You need a
commercial line for that.    Due to the unfinished nature of the dtm mod,
eveyone is kinda driving pretty much the same car...the variety in GTR is
great..although I suspect you'd have to PAY folks to join an online pickup
race with an NGT car.(Just watch how many rotten-scumbag-neoAliens take an
Ngt and smash my Viper times!)
