When I upgraded last spring to the PIII 450mhz,  I put in a basic SB AWE 64
Soundcard. Now, I cannot find the instructions.

Can I upgrade to a nice set of speakers with a Subwoofer? (It has three
jacks on the card, (1) Speaker out, (2) Microphone, and (3) ????)

OR

Do I need to get a PCI128 Soundcard or SB Live or whatever to take advantage
of a sub woofer???

Yes you can. Most speaker systems with subwoofers are self powered.
Just plug it into speaker out and your on your way. (the subwoofer
plugs into sound card and smaller speakers connect to the subwoofer.
at least on mine it does)

3= LINE IN most likely

Well, the better quality the sound card the better your sound will be
but you dont NEED to upgrade to use a subwoofer speaker system.

  You should be fine.  Just run the speaker out to your subwoofer, it
should provide the watts and line outs for the sattellite speakers.
Some games really come alive with the woof.  as always...have fun!
