I know with the fact that GRAND PRIX LEGENDS will be out in the
spring, has anyone thought about this?
If you consider the times that the NASCAR stock cars lap INDY in
the converted simulation, it is very close to the times that the indy
cars lapped the IMS back in 1968-1969. Perhaps within just a mile an
hour or two apart.
Which brings about an interesting thought. Since the Indy track
was offered by PAPYRUS, and GRAND PRIX LEGENDS soon to appear,
wouldn't it be great if someone -- somehow --- (I sure don't know how
to do it!!) could put together a car set of indycars from the era of
the late 60's to run on the indy track.
with the speeds of the NASCAR cars right where the indy cars were
then, I would think that perhaps most of the programming problems are
already handled, and that the only thing to concentrate on would be to
get the looks and detail of the open wheel type cars right. Face it
---the Indycars of that era WERE based on the GRAND PRIX cars and
BRABHAM, LOTUS, LOLA, brought their cars over here to run in the 500.
Can you imagine what the simulation would be like with perhaps
the 1967 STP turbine "whooshmobile" --- the 1968 STP Lotus Turbines --
Mario's 1969 winning Brawner-Hawk ---- Bobby Unser's 1968 winner (also
the winner in the movie "WINNING") ------ and a host of others, all on
the track -------- circa 1969? Could be interesting!
