F1GP by modem...

by Bruno Schleic » Fri, 03 May 1996 04:00:00

Hi everybody,

I've been trying to play F1GP over the phone. I have a 14400bps
modem (Zoom Internal FaxModem) and my friend has a 28800bps modem.
We have both got identical setups of the game, and my question
is:
When we try to play at 19200 speed, the connection breaks down
after a few seconds. We then have to go down to 9600bps which is like
driving at 1 frame per second ie. unplayable! Does it get any better
at 19200, and if it does, is my 14400 capable of it? Is it just a
question of tinkering with the modem commands?

It was great when we had the computers linked directly, no lag at all,
and the races went on until the early hours of the morning! I'll just
have to get another computer otherwise ;).

Try setting up various setups in the options ex 15 frame rate or 12,it
should work ok?Ps if your friend as an external he will need a 16600
uart port.
