Hi Bob,
Very realistic, but like your computer it's been surpassed a few times by other sims,
primarily in the graphics department, and more recently by the likes of F1 Racing Sim
(F1RS) and the hottest thing since the invention of the wheel: Grand Prix Legends
(GPL).
However, aside from all the fancy graphics and gizmos in these latest beasts, ICR2 will
keep you busy for years, and has (rightfully) joined the ranks as a true classic.
You'll
find many an add-on, and there are a number of active leagues where you can test your
mettle against others (offline).
Make sure the copy you purchase is titled "CART Racing", and not IndyCar Racing II
(both by the same company). The latter is the plain-jane older version, while the
former;
CART Racing contains the book "Winning" by former Car & Driver editor Steve Smith.
There are many sites with tools and add-ons; including sound files, new body shapes and
paint, etc. to help you get the most from the sim. Here are the ones to start with:
Simulator ***world - http://sim***world.simplenet.com
The Pits - http://www.racesimcentral.net/
The Sim Project - http://www.racesimcentral.net/
Make no mistake - ICR2/CR is a sim.
Cheers!
