2 during the rainy stages. This was particularly gaoling as I've recently
upgraded my machine to an Athlon 1.4 with Hercules Geforce 2 Ultra graphics
card (plus 512mb ram). After a bit of investigation, and endless tweaks of
my computer, I have discovered the unfortunate answer; its the in-cockpit
view that massively lowers the FPS while its raining; bright or cloudy
weather and the frames are a consistent 40-50ish (1024 res and 32 bit
colour), but once those heavens open it then dives in certain places on a
stage to 17-20. Change the view to an outside one and the frames increase
immediately back up to 50ish.
No further graphics tweaks in-game (or using external software like Geforce
Tweak Utility, or a change of graphics drivers) will make any difference to
this problem (or messing around with force feedback settings in game).
Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem.
