Okay I know what some of the lines in this file mean.  But what exactly
do the last 5 lines mean?

FASTN Nigel_Mansell             -- Track record holder's name
FASTT 94877                     -- Track record time
RACEN Michael_E._Carver         -- Player's name
RACET 90363                     -- Player's best time
RACEP 90363                     -- ?? What's the "P" stand for ??
RACEL 1                         -- ??????
PLYRN Michael_E._Carver         -- ???? Hey it's my name again, but why?
RACEO 91174                     -- ?? Is this my best time in a race?
OPPN  Christian_Fittapaldi      -- ?? What does Christian have to do
                                   with it?

This is probably totally wrong, but I'll give it a shot.  Also its based on Nascar,
but the records.txt file looks the same to me.

I think the RACE0 line is the best speed anyone has gotten at that track during a
race other than the player.  In this case it looks like in a race with
Michael_E._Carver (you) and Christian_Fittapaldi (an AI driver) he got the fastest
lap speed so far at that track for an AI driver.  The PLAYRN just identifies what
human he got this speed against.

For all of my track records, the RACEL line says '1' and the RACEP is the same as
the RACET (I have no idea what the difference is).  Also, many of my OPPN lines are
filled with Hawaii drivers, instead of AI drivers.

Two things:
One: I've written a program that lets you change the "track record"
(more on this in a minute...)

Two: Check your saved game at this track. I believe the last four lines
have to do with saving the info from either the qualifying, or the
current leader of the race in progress. I've been meaning to check this
out myself, but have been busy of late!

(Back to the program)
If anyone is interested, I've written a program that will give you the
CORRECT seconds (ie: line FASTT "94877") so that you can use the "real"
track records in the game (If you use the "real/actual" seconds, the
MPH shown in the game screen will be incorrect). This is only for NASCAR,
because I don't have ICR or ICR2.
I'm studying C++, and this is my first program. It's a very small,
simple, SAFE (I've spent HOURS testing and debugging!), DOS program, that
can be run from windows 3.1, and will have an original icon imbedded (My
last step for completion!).
I will probably upload it to one of the more popular web sights, if
there's enough interest.
