On-Line Racing Recommendations

by T.M.K » Mon, 31 Jan 2000 04:00:00

I've been a racing sim fan for sometime, but never tried on-line racing.

Some friends of mine have perked my interest because we've all talked about
racing together, but do not have any idea on how to get started and avoid
problems.

I currently have GPL, NASCAR 3, SCGT, and MGPR 2 on my P-II 400.  I also
have Viper Racing and a few other older racing sims somewhere in storage.

Which of these, or other sims, are the easiest to setup and use, and most
stable for on-line racing?

Is there a preferred method, such as through a host web site?

Your thoughts, comments, and experience are welcome, and appreciated in
advance.

Thanks.

I believe GPL has the best online experience with the WinVroc
program.  However
N3 beta patch is rapidly closing the gap for ease of online play.  The
key for
N3 is a good server.  Bad connections really***up an oval race.
SCGT biggest weakness is it's online play, it can be done, but it is
a royal pain, and you really need the 3.1 service pak to hide the cars
with very high polygon counts that bogg down your online play.
Haven't done MGPR2 but you just don't see that many posts here on RAS
about
it's online abilities, so I'm thinking it's not the best.
