going down the "corkscrew" at Laguna Seca only? Any similar experiences?

I was going to ask this too. I remember odd mentions of this from ICR
but assumed such a "bug" would have gone.
What's so complex about the corkscrew for replays, arcade views, etc?
And why do the skid-marks at the top of the hill lie about 30 cms above
the road?
Does significant elevation changes upset the 3D graphics system?
