Wheel and pedals problem

by BIG- » Tue, 13 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Hi everyone!

This subject has probably been discussed before, but I'm new here, so
please forgive me if I'm asking a "stupid" question.

I've been playing GP2 for about a year. 6 months ago, at a small
computer show, I bought an inexpensive "no-name" wheel + pedals kit to
try the "feeling". I loved it, but after 3 months, the accelerator
pedal's spring broke. I then bought an Interact V3 kit. After 2 months,
the steering wheel's spring broke. So now I'm wondering:
Is this kind of problem "normal"?
Is it me who is too rough?
Would a Thrustmaster kit last longer?
I'd love to have a TSW, but it's too expensive for me.

Thank you

Well, yes.  All springs will break, its just a matter of time.I was playing
GPL online yesterday and a brake spring
broke on this guys' TSW (No kidding -- My T2 beat him that
day :)

Nope; however, I did put a 1 1/4" piece of wood behind my T2pedals to
reduce the amount of travel -- reduces spring breakage
to about once a year or more. :)

I would hope so.  If you do break a spring they are VERY goodat sending out
new springs and stuff! If you like the controllers you have try making your
own spring.

Ok, for those of you who heard this before you can stop reading now :)
Open the pedal casing and look at the springs.. If you can make
one -- like wrapping a wire coat-hanger or #506 piano wire around
a broom handle -- go for it.

Agreed.
