gpl_1201 patch won't work

When I try to update GPL with the 1.2 patch it bombs out with an error half
way through, something like 'GPL.EXE not valid for patching'.  What's going
on?  I bought GPL in the UK - is that the problem?  Does the patch only work
for the US EXE?  I tried the 1.1 patch and that didn't work either.  Any
ideas?

I bought GPL in the UK, but only the USA version of the patch works on
mine.

Do you need the CD when you're playing GPL? If so, you need the UK
patch, otherwise you need the US patch.

Before you patch GPL, copy the original GPL.EXE from the CD.

Then it should work.

Thanks for the help guys.  I think I need the UK patch.  But where do I find
it?  Can't see it on sierra.com, sierra-online.co.uk or gamesdomain.

You're probably trying to update a Uk version with the US patch. You
need the UK patch which does not have an installer, all you need to do
is extract it to your Gpl directory.

How is that possible?!?! The UK patch is merely a zip file to be extracted
to \gpl folder. I can understand that your version might be US but
nonetheless the UK patch should work fine.
