This is a quick note to say farewell to my friends on
rec.autos.simulators. Next Friday (the 28th) is my last day at Papyrus.
Todd Farrington (the producer of IndyCar Racing II) and myself are forming
a new game company; we don't have a name and haven't completely solidified
our first project (it will not be a driving simulation, however), but we
expect to be on the market in time for Christmas 1997.

It's been a real educational experience*** out here in r.a.s. I wish
all of you well.

Wow, that's all I can come up with to say at this point.  Good luck
with your new company and fill us in on all of the Papyrus/Sierra
gossip when you're free and clear. ;)  Just kidding, but let us know
what newsgroup you will be frequenting in the months to come!

Thanks for keeping us informed!

I speak for a ton of us out here who appreciate your manner of support
and friendliness to all of us.  Stick around here if you can and let
us know how things go!  Oh, and leave a post-it note on your
successor's computer screen and tell him or her to stop by here
occasionally... ;-)

Good luck in your future.

Thanks for all your help Rick, and the very best of luck with your new
company. When you decide to make a driving sim, we'll see you back here
for regular updates....? ;)

Carefully chosen words...?!

Cheers!

Well, Rick!  I wish you all the best in your new endeavours!  I'd personally
like to thank you for putting up with all of our bullshit for months and
months.  I'd also like to thank you for ALWAYS acting in a professional
manner..it was always appreciated (by me, anyway).

Christmas '97?  We'll count on it...you seem to have scheduling figured out
pretty good!

Thanks Rick:

I am a regular in this and the flight-sim group.  No sim developer rep
comes close to the positive impact you have had.  Is this exit the result
of the Sierra take over?

You have been open with us, run your plan for the first project by this
group.  If your lucky, you might be able to coax some opinions from us.

June 28th?  Let us know Monday what you think of F1GP2.

Need coders?  Let me know where to send my resume.

Sorry to see you go.  Please don't be a stranger here.  Everybody in this
group cares.

And good luck to you too Todd.  We haven't had the personal contact, but
we love your ICR2.

                                                                      Thanks

Rick, sorry to see you go! I have to thank you for the many hours of enjoyment, you
have given me! And I also have a great deal of admiration for the ground breaking role you have
played here on r.a.s. The example you have set by providing us with answers and insight into
the workings of your games and your company will be the bench mark for all those that follow!
I just hope that others in the *** industry will take note! Servicing the customer
should be a companies priority! And you have set the standard!
Best wishes in your new venture!

        Regards Pete

Thanks for everything Rick! The value of having an actual software
tech. to post/reply in the RAS newsgroup is beyond remarkable. Please
post your new company as many of us will want to follow your quality!

Good Luck but also sorry to see you leave Sierra/Papyrus! ;-)

Good luck Rick.
I hope the other people at Papyrus/Sierra will continue what you began in
this newsgroup. You surely set an example for all game developers.

Let us know about your future plans (when they have solidified).

Cheers.

Good luck in your new venture. Can you tell us which newsgroup you'll be
hangin' out in? Some of us occasionally take a break from the methanol
fumes and play other games.

Time to retire that fire suit, eh Rick? I, for one, certainly appreciate
all your assistance here and your willingness to take the heat in order to
connect with the customers, and I'm sure the vast majority feel the same.
Congratulations on making your June deadline with ICR2. Hope the new
business does well!
