Nice to see some guys not afraid to rub fenders on a road course for a
change :)
Kind of like Nascar with wiggles!

I was there in 94. Also have the vid - very good stuff but better
to be on top of the mountain :) Those red commodores were
quick machines but Larry's cars have the legs to be fast all day.
I know I'm biased, but I'm not surprised that they are all still
racing - the v8 series is well run, has good tv coverage and has
some of the closest racing in the world - especially road racing.
If I was a professional driver, a series which is close, tough
but still possible to win from anywhere in the top 15, this would
be my choice.
Highlight of the past race weekend is a good example :
Lowndes trying to pass another falcon (Wilson?) has to slow
down as said car gets taily in front of him. Both valvoline cars
(tander and bargwanna) swoop in from behind and they end up
briefly 4 wide down the back straight. Lowndes and Bargs
drop back into a two wide train until 150m before the
chicane lowndes dives down the inside *** the brakes
from 260k's (three wide again briefly) and gets past all three
cars (on the very edge too from what I could see). Very
entertaining and Mr Lowndes has big brass ones for that
move.
The drivers are pretty involved in the direction of the series
which has made a big difference as well. Next year will be
exciting again as we get both new model cars. A few of the
ford team engineers have said the AU series was hard to
work with and we will have a closer comp next year with the
BA. I have a datto myself (therefore not so biased), and
despite liking the commodore more as a car, would love to see
russell ingall in a falcon kicking skaifeys ***next year.
Anyway, some thoughts from a local. And I too will miss
Larry - especially in the wet around Mt Panorama. I was
there for two of Larry's wins at Bathurst.
On-Topic : The Australian tracks I have now tried out on
GPL are absolute awesome - Oran Park is incredibly accurate.
