Then I just started racing Novice. Once you get to a reasonable level of
ability, you should be able to compete there. For example, at Monza the
qualifying time is between 1:30 and 1:31. If you can compete on-line then
you should be able to compete with the Novice AI.
You can even run the World Champ at Novice level.
Well...you can, s'pose, but you will be at F1 level and all the opposition
(AI) will be at the Novice level.

I'm currently at the 4th race (Spa) tied for 2nd place with:
Kya: 2nd, Monaco: 4th (after starting on pole), Zandy: 3rd (after starting
on pole).
Fun way to improve your times one track at a time. I've dropped my GPL Rank
from 130's to 62!

When u load up AItweak, it shows a default AI skill level of 1.0 for PRO/GP
races. Where as Novice shows 1.2 (the default at which GPL starts) I kinda
think the 1.0 above takes precedence when u jump into a championship doesn't
it?

So I don't really know what level of "tweak" the AI is at. I assumed that it
was back to square 1.
I was planning to just race each track at Novice until I could get top 3. I
wasn't EVER planning on doing the World Champ because I thought it only ran
at GP length. But I thought I should at least look, and you can specify
Novice.
If lap times help, my 1:30.96 at Monaco was pole, as was my 1:29.17.
Either way, I'm having tons of fun running the championship. I'm cheating of
course - if I crash out of a race or even get a really bad start, I exit and
try again. But if I get passed fair and square by the AI I don't exit. Hence
the 4th at Monaco. I led for the first half, then crashed at the chicane and
lost 3 spots.

You're tied for 2nd in the standings? Last time I ran a championship season, I

So yeah, I have to be fast enough to compete, but it's not an all-or-nothing
thing. I really want to see what happens when you win a season (people who
have, please don't tell me!).
You (Eldred) should be able to get the same results as me - until yesterday
we were basically tied in GPL Rank (then I found a few seconds at Mosport
and Spa).
And keep in mind this is a NOVICE world champ - the AI cars are considerably
slower at that level (F1 cars (not trainers), but Novice level). I have a
little spreadsheet that simulates GPL Rank but uses average novice qual
times as the benchmark and I'm in the 30's, most of which is at the Ring.
