would anyone be kind enough to  advise  on this problem as I am
at my wit's end.

My system:

Aopen AX6B MB
Celeron 266 (over-clocked to 400)
2X64 MB PC100 SDRAM
PDPI L4 Gameport
Soundblaster PCI64V
Hercules Thriller 8MB AGP
Generic ISA v90 modem
WinTV card
6.4HD, CD-ROM drive
Win 95 4.00.950

I find that doing a full-install  of the soundcard driver (with
DOS extensions)  crashes Grand Prix Legends - I get the dreaded
blue screen with  a  reference  to  an  'eapci'  (e.g.  PCI 64V
soundcard) file - when trying to  run  it. The DOS games that I
run (Nascar 2 and Indycar racing  2)  run either very poorly or
not at all.

I have tried various versions  of  the soundcard drivers - with
no difference. Creative Labs technical help  is a bad joke BTW.
All other peripherals are using the latest versions of drivers.

The soundcard is fine when  running  Windows - based programmes
(provided the DOS extensions are not  loaded). In DOS though it
is very poor.

No hardware/IRQ sort of conflicts reported BTW.

Anyone got any ideas on this one please ?

With thanks

N2/NR1999 runs fine with a SBPCI64(Ensoniq AudioPCI).
You need to select SoundBlaster Mono instead of the
AUTO-DETECT device. Look in the System Icon/Device
manager. Find you SBPCI64 in the soundcard section
and ensure that 'Soundblaster PCI64 legacy device' is
installed properly. You should look at the properties
for that device and setup your DOS games according
to the IRQ, Base Address (port) and DMA information you find
there.

I have this sound card and in GPL, evenb though it works, the quality is
appaling. I get crackling very often and it's not just when the speakers are
loud. This is the card and not the speakers because it only happens in GPL,
and I can put the speakers very loud for anything else with no probs.

Any tips?
