day). But the commercials in these races is getting way out of hand.
If the excessive commercials we saw in the race tonight was the result
of it being prime time, move the damn race back to Saturday morning
like it used to be.
I did a little review on the DVR after the race. 94 minutes of racing,
62 minutes of commercials from flag to flag (a full 40% of the
telecast was commercials). This does not include the numerous times we
get AOL, VISA, and other commercials thrown in the face while the race
is ongoing. This includes one point (42 laps remaining) where they
came back from a 4 minute commercial break for 25 seconds, then back
into another 4 minutes of commercials.
Some post-race comments: Boris Said, when being interviewed following
his fine 3rd place finish, dissed the competition by asking his fans
to "stop buying Red Bull and all those other nonsense brands". I
turned to my wife and said wouldn't it be funny to see Tony diss
Lowe's in victory lane. Instead, he dissed Coke.
Tony Stewart in victory lane: "They make all this Pepsi 400 stuff, but
Coca Cola still tastes a helluva lot better".
LMAO! I had to pause the interview to quit laughing! So who was it
that was fined by Nascar for placing his sponsor logo in front of the
race sponsor in victory lane a few years ago (Jimmy Johnson?). It was
kind of low for Tony to diss the major event sponsor in victory lane,
and my guess is he'll hear about from Nascar.
