I have a P90 and i'd like to know whether I will
ever be able to turn the asphalt on ?
<<<

Sure. However, whether or not you want to turn it on is a different
question.

Seriously, though, in IndyCar Racing II the priorities of the details are
user settable, so if you want grass textures to turn off before asphalt,
for example, you can set it up that way. As far as performance on your
machine goes, well, as they say, "Your mileage may vary."

Are there any Card specific SVGA drivers available for Nascar which would
improve frame rates ?
<<<

Not really for DOS.

How easy would it be to re-design the car bodies ?
<<<

While doing a car body is less complicated than doing a track, it's not
THAT much less complicated.

How does Win95 compare as both a development environment and a 'running'
one?
Do you get any performance advantages due to the native 32-bitness ?
<<<

As we were already using 32-bit code on DOS (which is why we bind the
DOS/4GW DOS extender into the executable), there isn't a difference in the
code model for DOS and Windows 95. You don't see a *decrease* in
performance, however, and that is a good thing.

Are you suprised at the success of Nascar and Indy-car racing outside of
the
U.S.A ?
<<<

Me personally? With IndyCar Racing, no, since IndyCar Racing is an
international sport. With NASCAR Racing, yes, since NASCAR is pretty much
purely American.

Not card specific, but card independent!

If Papyrus were using the VBE 2.0 standard with linear framebuffering for
the dos version, you probably could see a small increase in framerate.
At least it wouldn't be slower than even the best card specific windows
driver. FYI (and Papyrus),  Univesa 5.1 has the above features implemented.

Well I'm not surprised. I think it's the 'setupablility' (is there
such a word?) that makes it so cool. Of course the graphics do have a
bit to do with it.......

I'm really pleased that Nascar's been successful for you! Especially
outside America!!!

Coming from the UK I knew absolutely nothing about Nascar before you
launched Nascar (which I bought as soon as I found it on CD-ROM). I
now wish we could catch some of it on our TV channels, but ... we
can't!

Why did I buy it? I loved the 'realism' of Indycar and knew your
followup games would have to be at least as good. IMO Nascar surpassed
Indycar thanks in part to its SVGA mode. I'm thinking that ICR2 should
leapfrog Nascar though, when its released.

What prompted the rest of the non-American customers to play Nascar?

Stuart.

Well I'm American, but just decided to try Nascar for the hell of it.  I
had just gotten my pentium and wanted to see how it would stack up.  I HAD
every intention of returning it within 10 days.  (that's the "trial" period
at the local software store.)
Needless to say I was hooked real quick.  This is the first game that has
gotten me hooked on the real sport!  I watch ever Nascar race on T.V. and if
I can't watch it, I tape it. <G>

You can, too. Eurosport shows Nascar on a slightly irregular basis, but
most of the races are shown...

I bought Nascar _BECAUSE_ and my intuition was right :)

I don't know for sure, but I suspect Australia has the biggest NASCAR
scene outside of USA. A new racing season will be starting on Oct 14,
with Kevin Schwantz making his NASCAR debut in Sydney in November.

Only if you've got Sky/Cable or whatever it comes on! I'm stuck with
the 4 standard UK terrestrial channels where I live d8-((

I'll have to say that I liked the realism too. The brilliance of being
able to crash at 200mph makes me dribble with anticipation!!!
