Going to buy wheel and N3 tonight! What wheel reccomended?

by <gfol.. » Sat, 18 Sep 1999 04:00:00

I have a P-3 500 with 256 ram,  standard 56K modem, 16meg TNT/AGP V/C, and a
Sound Blaster live S/C.  Anyone see any problems with this setup and running
N3 online?  I raced N1on Hawaii and then N2 on TEN for about a year and a
half but I wore out my old T-1 (Thrusmaster) and bought a new Thrustmaster
Nascar Pro Racing Wheel/pedals.  Same time I bought the new wheel I started
getting booted out of races on TEN frequently.  The combination of me never
running as fast with the new wheel as I had with the old T-1 and the TEN
problems I got frustrated and quit racing sims!  I'm ready again.  Is my
video card okay?  Should I buy a FF wheel or regular and what kind?  And
where?

run as fast of lap times as I had before with my old T-1!!  Anyone like a
slightly used wheel/pedals at a great price? :-)

Thanks,
Gary

Get a 12MB Voodoo2 card and a Logitech FF USB wheel. The game will
rock. Otherwise you are stuck running the game in D3D. I'm sure you have
read the same postings that I have which warn that D3D graphics is much
worse than GLIDE.

I would suggest selling it on EBAY. That is what I did with my T2.

The T2 is a POS
The springs on mine keep braking and after 2 hours of playing after i change
the spring, it starts to get weak again.
I'm using a microsoft FF wheel now, no pedal fade in a lot of hours of
playing...

"Stuck" running the game in D3D?

Well, I've got a TNT2 non-ultra and a Voodoo Ii card, and I've compared
both.

The TNT2 is clearer, has better colors, and out-performs the V2 by a
considerable margin.

The colors in the Voodoo 2 mode were washed out and murky.

I'll take the TnT2 and be 'stuck' with D3D :)
