XP2100+
Ati 9700 Pro
512 DDR 2100
To buy the XP2100+ is about 85,the 9700 Pro is 240 and you will be sorted.
I put my XP2100+ onto my original 1.33 Athlon mobo,an Asus A7A266...and it
runs very nice...
No need for 5Ghz cpu etc etc :)
AD
Considering the extra 1 Ghz of cpu (above mine) and amazing video bandwidth
of the 9700 Pro, 60 shouldn't be a problem.

The F1 2002 key combo doesn't work for GPR 2002. I run "FRAPS" in the
background to get my fps. You can get it at www.fraps.com. It's free, it's
small, and it works on every 3D app.

The software enables the OTHER 4 pipelines and IF they are FULLY FUNCTIONING
then you get NON PRO 9700 performance out of the NP 9500. If you have a NP
9500 with some good 3.3 ns inf. ram you may also try to overclock it to 9700
Pro specs (using Warp 11 bios): this combo of software unlock AND
overclocking will yield 9700 Pro performance.
So far 70% success rate for software NP9500-NP9700 (the 30% failure rate
attributable mainly to those who previously hard modded their NP9500 and/or
those with 1 or more defective pipelines). Overclocking to 9700 Pro further
reduces success so NP 9500 to PRO 9700 is probably a 50/50 proposition.
It's a great deal if it works; if not you're stuck with a mediocre NP 9500.

Your system is not that far off balance between the cpu and graphics so
replacing one will only create a big bottleneck. What you should really
consider is replacing both cpu and graphics simultaneously.

That's odd, it works for me.

Thanks for the information... it really makes sense. I've just read a blurb
on this at a Russian site, and it was a bit unclear what they were trying to
say. They also mentioned the 9500 NP trick you describe. I've got some
more homework to do before I opt for the 9500 Pro, especially after reading
Dave Henrie's experience with missing textures!? And this card is getting
such rave reviews!
Thanks again!
