There is an easy way for PAPY to make money om GPL.

Include the roster of 1999.
change the car handling to F1
Do not buylicenses; just rename Ferrari to Pizzari :)) etc.
Rename Shumacher to Dr.Adams etc
( someone...... will release a "repair" pack)
include some stupid driving-aids; from arcade moron to sim. To make a review
possible for those mentally and physically handicapped journalists who gave
GPL 85% and NFS4 98%.

Papy can transform GPL into an awesome f1 sim in 2 or 3 months.
If they can make money of N3 (boring, running aroud in circles like a stupid
dog following its own tail........) with an outdated physics an graphics
engine (except for Nascar legends which is a lot better), then they can make
a lot off money from a real f1 sim and its add-ons.

If it catches on they can buy the licenses, if Ubisoft can do
it...............

I would buy it in an instant. I never buy racing games, because the demo or
the warez version or the disappoints usually to much.
I only bought GP2 when it came out and GPL.
And I am thinkin about buying TOCA2 because it is quite OK. But I really
want a great F1 sim which is up to date.
If you know one please let me know. (Monaco 2 (demo) is not even comming
close to GPL).

You still need to get a license for the tracks.  So it's full FIA-license or
a MonacoGP license for the track.  What about a FOCA license ????

woya here ;)    .  2 or 3months is a normal development time for a patch of
a released product.  Something like you just say would take at least a full
year.

Obviously you don't have a really true opinion of what is Stock-car racing.

Not a flame.. just facts ;)

I agree, Papy could and should tuse the engine for some great games
like F1 or even rally. Maybe they could sell the engine? The fact is
that the GPL engine is right on the mark, it really immersed you in
the action and makes you believe you are realluy on the track in a GP
car. I didnt get that feeing from N3 and thats why I didnt like it,
not because it is based on ovals.

But think of the possibilities of papy would sell the engine. Rally,
F1, and maybe even truck racing. That would just rule.

Let's get some of that first person shooter engine selling going on.

ok i agree FOCA license is OK DTM License, F2 or F3000 fine to
give me some real and challenging tracks  and it's fine

better idea is start F1 Racing on the 1967 tracks only change the car
outlook, sound handling, pits/paddock etc to1999
then 3 ( to 6 :)) months must be within their grasp.

Sorry, I just expected Nascar Legends to be a great game because of it's
name and producer.
And I got burned, thank god I stopped buying every racing sim long ago......
In anoher thread i got flamed for asking for a warez version of MGPRS2. I'll
restate my position:
download the warez version; download the patches; test it. Buy it if you
continue to play it; delete it when you don't like it.
Yes, in the case of Nascar Legends this strategy cost papy some money
because based on the review i would have bought it.
But the game disappoints to much. ( If you're used to GPL). IF a company is
able to create such a great sim, then as a customer you're entitled to
expect
the same quality in newer releases of sims. It's cheating your customer if
they don't!

Dan,

Sierra/papyrus has so far elected not to make, produce,or in any way get
involved with a current Cart sim. They still have the current license for
such a product through the year 2000,but don't count on anything from them
that doesn't say nascar.

The sad state of affairs is that open wheel car sims don't sell well
enough to make financially worth while in the USA.
