I just heard a RUMOR that Papy is climbing back into bed with EA and will be
the dev's of the next version of Thunder. No basis of fact, strictly a
rumor, but a dam fine rumor it is :-)

Ugh, does this mean we're going to have random failures and damage

If they reuse 90% of the code like they have in 4 of 6 titles then yes we'll
be having that discussion again :-)

Since Kaemmer indicated that brake wear and tire blowouts were going
to be included in N2004 had it come out, perhaps you should be hoping
this rumor isn't true.

I can already see you and Dave flipping out after an Atlanta
fixed-setup RASCAR race when half the field retires after having their
RF go down. =p

Hehe.

Seriously though they need to evaluate whats needed most and neither of
those items would be high on my list. I want better physics. Not this ***
they been shoving down our throat since N4. I want a better environment to
race in not the least of which is track/car/head relationships. Not the
cartoon ***they been shoving down our throats forever :). Realist
sun/effects, a track surface that actually is thermally dynamic with
realistic bumps low/high freq that actually interact with the cars
tires/suspension/chassis/head in a realistic way. All this on top of the
MANY good things Papy has done over the years. I know not much to ask :-)
Let the many modders have at the pretty graphics and models we need Papy to
lay a better groundwork.

Aren't you overlooking the fact that Papyrus isn't an independant developer,
like in the old days? They're owned by EA's arch enemy, Vivendi, and I'm
sure they're on a *real* short leash.

But isn't Vivendi pretty short on cash? From what I've heard, EA is
drowning in $$. Perhaps they have rented Papyrus' services for a time.
However, given the investment EA has made in ISI & Tiburion, I wouldn't
think they'd toss off their current teams so quickly. (suddenly rembering
how EA killed A-10 tank killer mere weeks before it's release & Ultima 9's
poorly timed release) Then again... :)
