GPL - US/UK measurements?

I expect this has been covered before, but I can't find it, so here goes:

Do the fuel tank measurements in GPL use US or UK gallons?

Use liters....it's so much more easier...

You know instead of multiplying by 32 and so on we only do it with 10...we
are so stupid that we cannot compute ounces in quarts, in pints, in
gallons....

Same as with weights by the way....

No wonder anglo saxon are so good in maths....they HAVE to if they want to
eat and drink...

Besides that I have no idea whether they use US or UK gallons

Since the majority of teams and races were European I'd assume they were
imperial...........

Uh?  I always thought a gallon was a gallon, was a gallon.  Are US and
UK gallons different?

Yes, indeed. US pint = 16 fluid ounces. UK pint = 20 fluid ounces.

So: US gallon = 128 fl. oz. UK gallon = 160 fl. oz.

Quite a difference, that.

Didn't know that.  If it's that big a difference, then you could tell by the
weight.

Not just gallons that are different - a US fluid ounce is about 3%
larger than an UK (Imperial) fluid ounce :-)

BTW, despite having been here in the US for just over 2 years I still
can't get my head round US mpg figures so whenever I fill up I spend the
first minute or so driving away from the petrol (aka gas) station
(for the current extortionate rate of $2/gallon :-) trying to remember
whether its 20% or 25% I add to the miles or remove from the gallons
before doing the division to get (UK) mpg figure. Of course back in the
UK its the similar - add 5% to miles and divide by litres/5 to get mpg
:-) (and the metric litres/100km seems totally alien to me!)

The Fuel levels in GPL are measured in US Gallons, which is perfectly
logical being coded by Americans, they'll use what they're already
comfortable with.

Eh?  Well, it'd be pretty strange if there *wasn't* a difference, wouldn't
it?! :-)
