Hiya there,
Well I got this game for christmas ( GPL ) and i must say it
is the most frustrating game ive ever played.  It is just so damn hard to
get used to.  I am having major trouble with it.    Im no hot shot racer or
anything, but I have pretty much mastered GP2 with no aids, NFS 1 2 and 3,
Indy 1 and 2, TOCA, Nascar 1 and Nascar 2.
I have pretty much got as good as i can get in those games, without much of
a real challenge.   But this game is so damn hard.  Ive felt like putting my
***thru the screen about 15 times.  I tried Monaco first, cos i knew the
track well.  I spun 6 times before trashing my car at Mirabeau.   I am
getting better, and I guess if i practice more then i will get used to the
slow cornering speeds.   Does anyone have any tips ??????
I just downloaded Alisons Coventry setups and am about to check em out right
now.

Another thing,  I have to run the game with no 3dfx support at all.  This
pisses me off.  I have a Voodoo 2 card, but it is shit annoying.
Ive got a top computer, and the game runs 36 fps when i do run the voodoo2,
BUT when i do run it, i can hardly see anything.  For example, on Monza
after about 15 seconds coming up to the first turn, the road and grass goes
black and i dont have a clue where to go.  This happens on and off in every
track.
So is there a patch i can download to fix it, cos it is real annoying, not
being able to see anything

It still is a fantastic game,  when i stay on the track

Update your M3D2 drivers this will solve the black track problem.
(DONOT USE THE VERSION 2.05 DRIVERS THEY WILL LOCK UP GPL)

And practice, practice, practice it will be well worth it

I have some older drivers if you need them if you have ICQ give me your #
and ill send em to you .
If not do a search on yahoo for diadmond multimedia and go to there FTPsite
and you can get them there.

Stay away from Monaco for awhile. Try reading the Stratergy guide that
came with the sim. It will tkae you through your first laps. Don't
think because you can cruise around in other sim's you don't need to
read it. Well worth the time. You are dealing with totally different
cars and physics now!!

This is a common problem. If you have installed DX6 try reinstalling
you video drivers. Otherwise try loading an older version of your
video drivers. Took me a couple of goes but you will find it well
worth the effort.

Yeh i agree, the game is hard.... i find that after a few mins i get
frustrated and turn the game off and go race another game. I wished it got
better grip on the turns!!

Dude, I had *EXACTLY* the same video problem as you, and I was
bummed because I had been wanting this game forever.

Someone told me to get the 3dfx ref drivers off from
www.3dfx.com... solved *all* my problems with all 3dfx games
since.  BTW, I have a Creative 3d Blaster Voodoo2, but I think
that's mostly irrelevant... the point of reference drivers is to
work with all V2 cards, and if they don't work, I'd suspect the
board maker pretty seriously.

And about how hard GPL is... i almost gave up too, but stick with
it and it can become very, very kewl.  When you get into a zone
and are reeling in Clark or Hill from 6 seconds back w/6 laps to
go... jeez it's fun.  Ocassinally, you can amaze yourself and rip
off 4 or 5 straight super flying laps and the feeling of
accomplishment is stupendous!  You're first podium finish is
absolutely *exhilarating!! *

Relax and try to have fun.  Gl.

It still amazes me that people can CLOSE and stay WITH Clark.  All *I* can do
is wave at him as he laps me...repeatedly.
...where's that key to show the middle finger...?  :-)
