N2 to INDY

by theguc » Fri, 09 May 1997 04:00:00

I'm just curious to find out whether or not anyone out there has figured
out a way to use INDY in N2.  I have been fooling around with this and
have found that i can race at indy in n2, but can't see the track.
Basically, this is due to the difference in the *.3do file structure.  I
found that the *.trk structure can be used in N2, but none of the *.3do
files.  It's pretty interesting racing on indy, but not seeing it. The
way that i have it set up, i am racing in the infeild at pocono.  The
*.lp files for the n1 brickyard work for the ai.

Anyhow my basic question is whether or not anyone has figured out a way
to convert the *.3do files from n1 or icr2 to N2.

By the way, i know that i can race nascar at indy using n1, but i have
gotten so used to the 30 fps in N2 that N1 has almost become unplayable,
not to mention the difference in the "feel" of the cars...

Yep, the 3DO files are very different in N2. The invidual records have
altered and renumbered. There is also an underlying structure to the N2
track.3do which must be adhered to and there are all sorts of other
complications. I have managed to convert icr2 to N2. To my eyes many of the
tracks look better visually than in Icr2 and the road circuits are far more
fun because you can get away with the odd mistake and nudge the competition
out of the way!. I hope to have a free version to post soon which will
convert 3 or 4 of the tracks.
