GPL 107%

Hi there, just thought I would announce that I have finally got under 107%
on all circuits now :-)

The last few days I have been trying to get my Nurb time into the 107% but
just couldn't do it. I seemed to be stuck at 9:14.  But I stuck with it, and
went through all the chassis, picking the slowest PB and running that
chassis until I improved it, then picking on the next worst etc.  My last 4
runs were:-

Brabham - 9:07.116
Lotus - 9:06.060
BRM - 9:00.080
Eagle - 8:56.778

My next target is the Cooper then the Honda and finally the Ferrari.

Sorry to post this but I am just soo happy :-)))))))

All the very best,

Nik

Nice one, Nick! ;-)

I'm in EXACTLY the same position you were, trying to make 107% on all
tracks, with only the 'Ring to go.

Stuck at 08:58.60 in the Ferrari at the mo...I'm sure I can do better
in the Eagle soon though (he said hopefully!)

I have now got down to 8:42.179 in the Ferrari with the Lotus and Honda not
far behind. I have to go back to the others and get them down from around
9:00 to under 8:45.

BTW my Eagle time is 8:56.778 at the moment, but I hope to get it down this
week.  I have not been on any other track for 5 days now.  I can almost
imagine a lap!

Jonesy, if you want me to send you my Eagle setup and replay file, jst let
me know.

Thanks for all the comments people.

Do you think it's better to start with the highest, or with the one most likely
to beat whatever benchmark you've set?  Meaning would you try to get your
N-ring 109% time below your Rouen 108%, or would you try to get your
Silverstone 101% down to 99%?

Obviously its whatever you want, but I usually try to work on the worst
offender.

1> It offers the greatest possiblity of rank improvement.
2.  Gotta do it sometime....

I was just wondering how much reaching a goal helps.  Meaning, does going -ve
on a track or under 107% give a better sense of accomplishment than simply
lowering one track's %age lower than another.<g>

My best results seemed to come from an organised sequence of
tracks, from Kyalami to Zandvoort (or the other way, for
variety ;-).

I'd have a session at a track, play with setups (which for me
is much of the fun) and see what I could do - and if I didn't
improve, I'd shrug, have a break then move on to the next
track.

Variety (tracks, cars, sims, whatever) seems to be of huge
benefit; the other thing is that this approach means you
can't put off the tracks you hate (I still dislike Mosport,
but I've got some reasonable times at it).

Over-focusing on one track *doesn't* seem to help, for me.
