SCGT memory problems

by Jeff Vince » Tue, 04 Apr 2000 04:00:00

I've been running SCGT for a few days.  Only mods are the 1.551a
patch.  I have it installed on drive G: with about 600meg free.  My C:
drive has about 1gig free and a fixed-size 256meg Windows swap file.
Tonight, for some reason when I run SCGT (GT2 season, second race),
after about five minutes at the track I get a Windows message popping
up saying I've run out of available space on drive G:.  By the time I
get back to SCGT, I've either crashed and damaged the car or (even
worse) get a blank screen and have to reset/reboot to get going again.

I deleted about 150meg of replays on G: but that didn't help.  The
only thing I've changed recently is adding Real Player 7 Basic (and
some junk that comes with it) to the C: drive.  Has anyone got any
ideas on this?  TIA

Uninstall Real Player and see what happens.

make sure you have the replay box UNchecked.  Then try it also.  I
have realplayer 7 onboard with no problems in scgt.
good luck

Dave, thanks for the tip.  That did correct the crashes.

I just wonder why though?  I'd only get about 5 minutes into a
session when it would happen, while I had run 15-20 minutes sessions
successfully before.  (Replay was set to 15 minutes.)

One idea...  I'm familiar with the Papyrus replay system and replay
size can be greatly expanded by dirt/smoke/etc (they aren't saved very

efficiently).  The race that I hung on was my first wet race, and at
night to boot.  Maybe something about the wet/night effects bloated
the replay size?...

   Anyways, thanks for your help.
