Can GP2 be made easier?

No flames please, but us older guys could use a break on the difficulty
level of GP2 (the old reflexes aren't what they used to be). I was fairly
competitive with the old World Circuit 1 game, but in GP2 I'd like to slow
down the other drivers just a bit so I'm not always acting as a backmarker,
rolling chicane, or whatever else you would like to call it. Do any of the
downloadable utilities address this aspect of the game settings?

If you go into the Advanced Setup and change your driver skill to
beginner it will slow the other guys down a bit...

I'm no expert either, but there are editor utilities on the Web that
change the BHP of the other drivers cars. Try some at Pieter's GrandPrix
2 Home Page. http://cervino.vol.it/GP2/

Yes, if you use one of the editors out there you can either give the
other cars and drivers less bhp and grip, or you can give your car and
driver more bhp and grip.

Some people consider this cheating though!!!!!

There is no substitute for plain old practice.......

Yes. And yes, there are editors out there to change every performance aspect you
could dream of. Look for Grand Prix 2 Editor by Steven Young.

I just took it off ACE mode.. The other cars are much slower and are so
dumb..

It is not actually that hard. The answer could possibly lies in the
setup (or/and a good device for driving). When I first switch to GP2 and
GP1, I can't seem to do a reasonable lap times, but with good setup
everything seems to be in place. Besides, the realism in GP2 can't be
compared to those in GP1 and running in ACE mode is really competitive,
which is good. Alternatively, look for utilities from the net -
performance editor, where you can actually adjust computer cars horse
power and the drivers' aggressiveness (sorry I can't remember the
address)

I too have experienced this problem after winning the championship on ACE
level in GP1 and doing it again with the AI grip increased. I can't seem
to get decent lap times in GP2, at semi-pro level, usually the best I can
qualify is 10th. I used setups from the web for GP1, and use pre done
setups for GP2 also, but I just can't get the car to be competitive, what
am I doing wrong??

Enough of this I'm fadin' shit Doug. :-)  I'm 40ish and won a couple of
full length ace races. Lock yourself in your room, dont let the missus
interrupt, use the full length Aida Qual/Race setups attached from the
excellent Eric Cote site at http://infoweb.magi.com/~ericcote/gp2menu.html
( fine-tune to taste ) Turn off ALL aids except F5  to learn the track,
and put in 200 practice laps, then, after a short rest, <g> turn off F5,
setup for 3 stops, and go for it !!

Happy Lappin

But whats the point in that, no sense of achievement if your car is more
powerful than everyone else.

I always try to adjust the powers of the AI cars so that the fastest of
them has the same BHP as me, then I know I will have someone in a car
capable of beating me.
