With a celeron ANY New Gen. video card will be waiting for it to finish...
GPL and N4 are more dependant upon CPU power.  What you are proposing is
like installing an F1 engine into a car and then using regular gas.

It's not that bad. A new celeron is as fast or faster than a pentium 2.

And a Pentium 2 is considered SLOW SLOW now days. Especially when coupled to
a Geforce3 card.

Call the new celeron what you want. Your video card is starving for data to
spit out to the screen.

WOW! THANKS for nothing. I know upgrading the processor would be better I'm
just wondering if anyone has this setup and what FPS they are getting. If
you don't have a FPS figure to give for this situation then please respond
to another thread.

Whoa, Nelly....er, Vintook.

Pardon me for responding without data, but I think you're assuming too much,
to begin with.  I don't have the numbers you're seeking either, and suspect
the specific configuration you mention will be rare to non-existent.  Reason
being that anyone who's inclined to drop their disposable cash on a
bleeding-edge GF3 almost certainly chucked their Celery long ago, CPU prices
being what they are.  And since the GF3's aren't showing much improvement in
current games over top-end GF2's paired with much faster CPU's than your
OC'ed Celeron, it stands to reason that a GF3 wouldn't do YOU much good
either.   You didn't state your current video card, so if it's past its day
a new model would be better, not doubt.

Good luck with your search,

Steve B.

We did. You wasted your money on the GeForce 3. Upgrade your processor, wait
about a year or so for GeForce 3 optimized titles to appear, probably
upgrade your MOBO and Processor again. Now your up to speed for a GeForce 3.
Any other questions?

Steve, that was easily the most intelligent response yet to his
question!!!!!!!!
That said, I'm in a similar situation: C300A/450 (for now), looking
to upgrade my video FIRST to a GF2 then the RAM to 128 PC133, THEN the CPU
to whatever I can afford. I currently have a V3 3500 AGP.

thats backwards...cpu first...your V3 will not be much slower than the GF2
with an older celery.  You can spend tons on vid cards, but if your CPU is
weak, it won't make a worthwhile improvement.

Dave Henrie's got it right Gunner; I've got the same hardware as you,
basically (C450/V3) and the CPU will definitely be the first to go.  At
least it will be as soon as I can convince myself I need more sim stuff
instead of some chi-chi new carbon fiber wheels or the like for my road
bike!  But since it runs GPL fine, I don't feel the need to upgrade to run
anything else at the moment.  WSC will do the trick for sure if I don't cave
before then, but I figure the longer I wait, the better and cheaper the
hardware will be when I take the plunge for a worthy new sim.

Where did I say I bought a Gforce3? I don't recall saying that. I just
wanted to know if anyone else had this combo.

Great response! A nice read, but it doesn't give me any info with regard to
my question. I have a Gforce2 MX if you must know. I know a processor
upgrade is more the way to go but from the fps numbers I see from others
with better systems than mine, I am beginning to think a processor upgrade
might not give me the fps I'm looking for with my MX and that maybe a better
card would. I only asked the question to see if anyone had the same setup as
me but with a Gforce3 so as to get an idea how good the quintsunx fsaa is
becuase if it runs as fast or better than what I get now on my MX then I'll
just get the Gforce3.

If GPL is your primary Sim, then CPU power is your primary concern! I
have proved this to myself over and over again! Work's Dell 4100 1GHz
with a TNT2 is faster than my Dell XPS-T with 850 and GF2. Now if I
could put the GF2 in the 4100 . . .
