Does anyone know if NASCAR 4 will have glide support for voodoo 5 cards in
the final release.  I know it doesn't work in the demo and my frame rates
are horrible with direct 3D.

Thanks,
Chris

The problem isn't D3D, it's because V5 isn't the best 32 bit video card, and
the graphic engine of N4 is 32 bit only. This is why V5 will not be the best
card for N4. I have a V5 and planned to change it, when the new Nvidia card
will be out.

N4 WILL NOT have any GLIDE support.  It will display in both
D3d and Opengl.  And your V5 should run both.  (I know it wasn't enabled in
the demo)  Now as to 32 bit only...NOT A CHANCE!  N4 will do 32 bit color
but also 16 bit.  Most 3dfx owners and all but a handful of Ultra owners
will most likely opt for 16bit color due to frame rate reasons.
If N4 is a direct decendant of GPL(and it is...) then your CPU may  be
more of a limiting factor than your vid card.  If you can't push ONE CAR
smoothly in the demo then a full field will mean big trouble for your
system.

Nope, that is pure bollocks.

No, they have stated d3d and open gl.
I would have thought a V5 would do d3d ok?
Nvidia is the way to go for N4 and future games.

Hmm, I think you can run it in 16 or 32 bit.
Even with the Nvidia chip, most current systems would struggle running 32
bit and all options on.

Voodoo5 supports 32 bit just fine.
And as far as framerates go N4 demo was not very good on my Athlon
800/Geforce 2. The game is just a hog.
And where did you hear N4 will only be 32bit?
That is not true.

Given Papy's penchant for supporting dead/dying video cards, I'd say
it's a given!

Can't wait for CART 2(3), whatever. C'mon, Please!

>Huh?

I think he means native Rendition support for NASCAR 2 and SODA (it's
a crime that was never updated), then a Glide patch rather than D3D
for NASCAR 2. I agree that's its sort of been a dead issue since N3.

I think he's referring to Rendition and now 3DFX.
