My suggestion is to get a copy of FASTVID and just run it. It will
report if it is doing anything or not. It is a harmless "switching"
program, not a TSR and it goes away after you reboot.
The chipset that you are getting may well not need or use it, but if it
can or does need it, FASTVID will make a good deal of difference in some
applications that are run on the PPro.
Take a look see...then you'll be certain.

know is......Some people tell me i need to use the fastvid program, and
some tell me with the new chip set, that i wont need it.... so can someone

Hi David,

I have tested the 440FX(Natoma chipset for PP) and you will need the
Fastvid program for this chipset as well. Intels policy is that the OS
should turn on these features, unfortunatly today there are any known
OSs that will turn on any of those features not even Winnt 4.0!
The only feature that is selectable thru the BIOS(AMI) is VGA Write
Combining as AMI calls it, another BIOS vendors call the same feature
PCI Byte Merging.
