Demolition Racer :-( If I had words...

What an incredible disappointment this is. Demolition Racer for the PC is
crap. Really. It's sucks. When I heard of this game for the first time, I
was hoping for a 3D accelerated version of Destruction Derby. But this isn't
it. Everything is wrong. The graphics are awfull. Incredibe ugly. Even at
the highest settings. The game reminded me a lot of lightyears old game
Fatal Racing. But then not with the flashy colours. Hell, Fatal Racing was
fun, compared to this game! The cars look extremely (extremely!) flat and
dull. The tracks are all GREY (grey, grey and some more grey) and... and...
I really haven't words for it. Tis is one of the most disappointing games I
have ever played. Played, you say? Ha ha ha! Gameplay sucks big time.
Somehow the cars move too fast and they are too light. In Destruction derby
you could plan an attack on another car. Not in this game. Hitting someone
is just a matter of luck, not of skill. And the only usefull control method
is the keyboard. And the sounds! Oh no, the sounds! The crash sounds have a
total lack of atmosphere and depth. They are so clearly computerized wav
files. Played in random order. And they don't time with the action. You
crash into 10 other cars at the start of the total destruction race in a
bowl, and what do you hear? The sound of someone hitting two cooking pots
against each other. And that's it! Really!!! Sometimes you crash and you
hear nothing. It's seldom right. But whatever you hear, it's awful. This has
got to be the game with the worst sound effects this year, if not this
decade. Multiplayer? No, of course not! Not even a split screen option!
Difficulty settings? You don't need them because YOU WON"T BE PLAYING THIS
GAME! Believe me. This is the biggest pile of shit ever burned into a
CD-Rom. I've seldom been so disappointed with a game as with this one (as
you may have noticed...) I really don't understand they DARE to release
this. It's an insult, it really is. Stay away from it. Oh yeah, the
interface... For every race you have to go through all screens time and time
again. Not a single thing is remembered. There is a selection screen for the
kind of race, the kind of track, the car and whatever. No quick start here!
And in game you always default to the helicopter view. So if you like the
***pit (of course without a***pit) view you have to press X 4 times EVERY
time. Ah man, this game is... is... is... you know, maybe you SHOULD take a
look at it. It will make you appreciate all your other game so much more.
Phew... I've said enough. What am I wasting my precious time on?!?!?!?

P.S. I just read a review on

Good job, Bob Mandell! But I don't understand why you gave it 2 stars,
instead of 1 (is no star possible too? :-)

"Demolition Racer"..... well, the title sez it all!  If I ran a game with a
title like that, I would know what to expect.
