GPL; Ferrari is very nice at Zanvoort!

Hi GPL racers,

it has been difficult to me start liking the Ferrari 312, but today it
happened! I tried Jason's excellent setup for Zanvoort, and the car was
really enjoyable to drive! It seems to be so that you have to "drive"
Ferrari more than some other cars, and it seems to be more critical with
cold tyres. But after a couple of laps it feels very good and even quite
forgiving.

I could make 1:33.08 in my first evening with Ferrari in Zanvoort. (I am
not very fast driver, as a "benchmark": my best in Monza with Lotus is
still only 1:31.39.)

I competed some races with 11 least good AI drivers, and I could stay in
the middle pack. Very content with a new car. And as I told, I'm very
happy that Ferrari has turned out to be a very enjoyable car!

A small example: In one of those races I came too fast to Tarzanbocht.
The result was a 360 degree's spin. I could still keep on track!
J. Siffert was following me very nearly and could pass me inside.
And then we came to the beginning of Gerlachbocht. And there I could
pass Siffert outside - I did not loose much speed in my spin, and
I could recover very fast! In Hugenholtzbocht I had secured my positon
again! Well, I was only 8th position of the 12 racers, but I guess my
enjoyment was not lesser than those fast guys have when racing with
J. Clark!

I think this is one of the extraordinary features of GPL! You enjoy
also success "in the small". The way to fight with Clark is long,
perhaps not possible at all. But already the way is so nice...

PS Thanks to Jason for his setups!

I forget how much customization I did with the Ferrari (I haven't driven't
it
for sooo long) but glad you like the setup.  I always tried to setup for
consistant
braking the in the Ferrari due to its low top speed.  I could make up for it

by out braking my opponent :-)

Your right about having to 'drive' the Ferrari more, but what would GPL
be without a little tail-wagging? ;-)

I would also like to add that I think Jason's setups (esp. Ferrari) are
very good. I shifted from Alison Hine's Coventry setups to Jason's Ferrari
setups, and found them just as forgiving. To me the Ferrari is the best
handling of the cars in GPL, but what makes it so good is its stability
under brakes.
Or maybe the setups suit my style...
I've finally circulated around Rouen in under 2 min with the default Lotus
setup. Yahoo!  Sorry, I just had to SHOUT that! :))
