Just a comment...

I realize that this game is not considered a SIM by many, and I agree
it is no GPL or SCGT, but the graphics are STUNNING!  I found the game
discounted for $14.95 so I picked it up for fun.  I find myself gazing
at the scenery instead of the road.  And it runs at a very high FPS
clip.

Now if we could get this kind of graphics quality with the next
generation racing sims...wow!

Have you found how to exit the maps yet?  :)  Kind of fun seeing them from
outside.  Try Schwartzwald, the little village near the end, on the
right-hand side of the alley between the two mirror-image houses on the
left, just drive your car in there.

I *love* the graphics in NFS5 - it was tough to put up with GPL's graphics
while learning to race a *real* sim.  Maybe that's why I'm the only one who
likes Monaco, at least it's colorfull! :)

Have you seen NFS: Porsche Unleashed?

My wife made me drive slowly so she could relax and check out the
scenery.. they should have a split screen - driver / passenger view!

(of course, we can all look forward to Microsoft Train Simulator for the
passenger views)

You are absolutely right. The thing that I like most about it is that the
car models are SO accurate. That was one problem that I had in NFS3 and
NFS4 -- the cars included were excellent picks for that type of game, but
the graphics made them look too cartoon-ish while playing the game. EA got
it right with NFS5.

Great game... I'm not sure how well it sold, but I'd love to see more NFS
games which focus on one particular make.  The historical angle hooked me,
and the physics were pretty good too.

The historical angle hooked me too. I would LOVE to see Ferrari Unleashed.
The idea of driving the greatest Ferraris in history gives me chills.

But where are all the OTHER Porsches!

Like the F1 car of the early 60s?
The 912?
The 914/6 (916)
The 917?
Older 928?
The 968?
I could go on and on . . .

It isn't a real one but check out http://www.thunderranch.com.

They have an absolutely gorgeous Spyder replica.  Kits available
in various stages with a basic VW 120 hp engine.  That wouldn't
interest me but there is also a version of the frame that will
allow a porsche 6 cylinder (about $14K US w/o engine).  The
turn-key price on the porsche engine model is $23K - $30K.  I
am seriously thinking about getting the 550A-6 kit w/ headrest
and outsource a refurbed engine from motormeister this summer.

Beware of the Porsche 6 engine in the Beck Spyder. I've spent a few hours
with Chuck Beck discussing his cars and the subject of the flat six came up.
He told me that the engine is much too heavy for the car and that most of
his customers who have installed them ended up removing them and installing
either a built 1750cc VW or a Porsche 912 engine. The weight of the 6 causes
some handling problems and actually slows the car down, it sure sounds nice
though<g>. I used to see a beautiful red Beck 550 on my freeway commute 2 or
3 times a week. Man, can that car stop traffic!

His other chassis, the Lister replica, really has caught my fancy. A nice
small-block Ford V-8 in a 1200 lb chassis ought to turn some heads and burn
up some rear tires!

Some while back, George Follmer -- a man who's driven everything in
competition from original 550 Spyders to the 917/10 K330 -- did a road
test of a Beck (now owned by another company, I believe, while Beck has
concentrated on the Lister replica) with a well-breathed-on VW 1600, and
pronounced it a better-driving car than the original.
