Hi,
first i must say i AM a gpl fan.
but one thing makes me angry:
maybe i am slow, maybe my car seems like a rock on the track, but in
F1 blue flags are ONLY used when a driver has AT LEAST one lap less
than the who is behind him, not , as in GPL, when a fast driver is
behind a slow one.
is there any patch for this unforgivable mistake?
i really ruins the feeling, makes you feel driving a lowly arcade were
cpu cars gets slower when you are behind & faster when are ahead:((
thx

I only happens in practice when any car is behind you, dont take offence to
it :)
As far as I can tell the cpu drivers will try to get back past you but if
your faster you will pull away.

Um.... in a RACE it will only show blue if you are going to be lapped

In QUALIFYING you will be shown blue flag if you are slower than the driver
behind, which I believe is the same as present F1

Not always true tim.
In practice, I have passed many a car running slower than me only to see a
blue flag at the next corner. This is the case, even when I'm pulling away
from the aforementioned car.

In practice you get a blue flag whenever a car is close behind you no
matter what speed you or he is doing. In races you only get blue flags
when being lapped (well should do... sometimes in online races GPL
screws up and give you blue flags when you shouldn't have them ;-)

no. it calculates whether they close for a certain amount of time, you can
edit it so that you never see a blue flag if u really want to

Franz...this is NOT an "unforgiveable mistake".

In the period depcited by GPL (and indeed for at least a decade later) the
waved blue flag was simply advisory only........it indicated to a driver
that a vehicle was close behind and may attempt an overtaking manouvre.

It was NOT a mandatory requirement for anyone receiving the waved blue flag
to pull over and let the other car past.

So the fact that you are being waved at is simply to let you know another
car is approaching at speed.....and it is immaterial whether you are on the
same lap or not.

I believe that the Blue Flags in the 1960's F1 were simply to warn other
drivers that a faster car was comming up behind them, and not as modern F1
racing where you only get a blue flag if you are a lap down and have to give
way to the car behind.

Correct.  Papyrus is correct in its blue flag interpretation.
