Ok for me, as usual. Couple reports of me position warping/winking out and I
did have a couple latency spikes, but I'm sure that's my end.

Best of my recollection I had 2 BFs. The first was for "leaking fluids"
on the track as the results of Grub Bat losing it and hitting my front end.
And one for passing someone before SF I think they said they had lost
second gear.
    But I'm a rookie. :-)

Jan,
I have to say that I am sorry about that wreck. It should have been a
good pass but dog-gone if I didn't blow it. Of all people, I did not want to
get into you and start some bad ***. The warping wasn't the reason that I
got in to you but when I was in that corner, I briefly thought about it and
thought that I would try to give you a tad more room. A split second on that
apron and wham, that dreaded push.
The grubbat Dodge was running strong on new tires but the rock is
definitly hard to handle on that fast setup.

How did grub hit your front end? :)
Were you sittin in the middle of the track?
Sorry bout that. If I could have, I would have avoided you. Funny, I didn't
get no damage from that hit.

Came down in front of me. I had no visible damage but it
told me I was leaking fluid on the track and got BF'd. I pitted
and lost about 10 mph off my top end.
One of those things. We hardly touched.

The usual, IMO. People not giving themselves and each other time to
settle
into the race. "I have to run 24s flat the second lap around" -sheesh.
On
the fast setup, when driving in "race-mode" the tyres only come in for
me
about lap 12-15. That first part we never had 15 laps of straight
running.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think this is the biggest problem we have. The darn race was 170+
laps, with a mandatory pit stop. Plus we already knew the setup was a
tricky one. I'll write it off as first race e***ment, but this is
the second "season", we should know better.

I know I'm slower, so I try to give room to pass or if I'm going to
pass, I'll watch and wait to pick a time and place that's safe. At
least I hope it's safe.

(The race was 158 laps - grin).

This is for everyone, not just Jan and ZZ...

I personally think it's a matter of practice and a lack of
concentration, compounded by the fear of taking someone out ("driving
the mirror").

If you're uncomfortable with someone being right on your ass lap
after lap, give them room and let them by. If you're getting
frustrated by having to follow someone that's "obviously slower" than
you are, be patient and wait for an opportunity to pass safely.

Another big problem is that the setup acts differently online than it
does offline.  Some folks appeared to be surprised by this, but after
similar discoveries last year, I don't know why this continues to be
unexpected.

Just because you don't have to actually build a setup does NOT mean
that you can ignore any opportunity to put in a few (hundred)
practice laps and become familiar with the setup that we're using.
Ginger put all of us to shame by installing the game for the first
time just before the race, and I don't recall him getting out of
shape AT ALL during the race.

Cowboy up, stop complaining, practice till your eyes bleed, and build
up some confidence in your ability to drive the damn car.  We will
not be fielding any more complaints about the <fast> setups.

Come on - he didn't REALLY just install it right before the race, did he?

That's ok Grub, it was an accident. No hard feelings.

Yep, you were a passenger the second you hit it. Pretty *** stuff.

The trick is to run "medium" on new tyres so you stay on the road with _old_
tyres. Trust me, I practised this one quite a bit. If you "go" on the green
you're never going to see lap 65 on that set of socks.

John, that really sucks that the SIM bit you.  My condolences.

I think the new guys did a pretty good job considering how tough the race
was!

As I indicated in an earlier post, I think I know why.

It seemed to me that if you could get up to speed, and stay there, the setup
wasn't that bad.

But if you were running slow to be careful, or even worse trying to slow to
avoid traffic bottlenecks or incidents, or even much worse having to touch
the brakes in the corner to avoid something, you were in trouble fast and
the rear end would come around.

I think this is because the setup was designed in TESTING mode with no
traffic, and it does not take into consideration low-speed handling or
traffic avoidance.  The rear downforce, to me, felt like basically NIL at
slower speeds and the brake bias was not set for avoidance situations.

Just my theory :)

A couple of spikes, and a couple of cars had a little wobble, but pretty
good!
