Greetings all,

I have a couple of TM GP1 wheels, which IMO cannot be beat for the $$. I will
generally change the bungee cord at a 4-6 week interval and have never had to
change a pot.

My question to other users is, has anyone come up with another clamping device
for the bungee which would make for quicker changes and more consistant tension
adjustment?

I keep hearing that TM has a new bungee material ready but has anyone seen it
yet?

Thanks,
Don

I switch my bunge cord with spring in my T2, no more bungee replacement and always
the same tension !!!!

Could you kindly give more details on how you accomplished this? (anchor
points, type of spring, installation procedure etc.)

TIA,
Stanley Chan

Why are bungee cords considered user replaceable but the plastic rollers
they ride on are not?

Alan,
I am curious about this myself.  On two occasions I have requested the
rollers, but I have not heard back about them.  Right now the 'nub'
that the roller goes over is riding on the bungie, no doubt wearing it
and the bungee faster than if the roller was in there.

My T2 has served me well so far and while I recognize that there are
higher end wheels, I can't say I went wrong with my decision to
purchase this Thrustmaster product instead.  I just want a couple new
rollers :)

As an aside - for those still breaking springs, I have had good
success with a couple of 'tuneups'.  First, try putting in a small
block of some sort to limit the last 1/2 inch of pedal travel, this
reduces the ultimate stress the spring takes.  Also, a drop of a VERY
light lubricant (silicon spray would be good also) on the spring helps
to keep the layers of windings from binding on each other, again
reducting stress on the outside layers.  One of my springs didn't have
any protection and got a bit of surface rust that increased friction
between the windings- and this is the one that broke. Since the lubing
I haven't broken another, though I did put in a second set of springs
for backup - in the style of design shown on a pedal fix file found at
http://www.theuspits.com.

We can send out the rollers and replacing them is not overly difficult.  The
only thing that would concern us is the potential of breaking the small
retaining tabs that hold the roller on.  If these are broken, the only
solution is to replace the entire yoke - and, especially with the Nascar Pro,
this can be a pain as all the wiring that passes through the hub will have to
be unsoldered and resoldered.  So, in general we recommend sending it in, but
it certainly can be done at home.

So, if you feel comfortable with it, let us know and we'll send the parts.

Alan is absolutely correct.  I had the rollers break on one of my
wheels eating the bungee in the process.

Thrustmaster sent me a bungee and roller kit.   I will agree with him
100%  about being careful with the small retainers.  If they are
broken, it could most certianly be a sad time. :-)
