Indy car II(Cart)slow frames with enhanced tracks

by rswe » Mon, 08 Jun 1998 04:00:00

Just wondering if anyone has a suggestion. I am running rendition Indy
with a PII 300, 64 meg ram, Hercules 4meg thriller. The standard
(non-enhanced tracks) run very well. Solid 30 fps with graphics
everything on, max cars ahead, full mirrors, etc.. When I use an
enhanced track, the fps goes way down. 15, 16 at times. If I turn on
full mirrors, I will get 12, 13 at times in traffic. Running a converted
track like Watkins Glen the Frames are very solid like the standard
tracks. I would think that my system would handle the enhanced tracks no
problem. Does anyone think an 8meg board would help. I am going to
modify the Asus P28 and the 300 to run at 100Htz, maybe this will help.
Any suggestions would be helpfull.

Thanks in advance
Rick Sweeney

Hmm, it ran around 23fps on enhanced tracks full everything draw ahead etc
on my P133 32meg edo, with orchid righteous. And with my p233mmx and same
config it hardly drops under 30fps.

U may want to try turning off the AA.  Press Alt-A to do this.  your
fps will go up and the clipping lines in the track will be gone.

Well I figured this one out. The PCI Lantncy timer was low, I messed with
it a little, and finally just red lined it to 255. The ICR enhanced tracks
in rendition mode nail 30 fps everywhere, graphics everything on, full tilt
boggie.
