Well, wasn't really a flip, more of a pierouette. Landed on wheels in

Your intelligence and knowledge of the English language is showing. Why
don't you grow up? Evidently you are new to NASCAR why do you think they
came up with the roof flaps in the first place? I would bet that you don't
even know who the other drivers refer to as Bumper.

From what I saw, he didn't really flip, as in end over end. He did get
over on his side and slide down the track, where people commenced to
crashing into him. It didn't matter if he, or Rickey Craven in the spring,
had the flaps or not. When you are getting knocked around like that the
flaps will do very little, if anything, for you.
The flaps are mainly meant to deploy when the car spins on the track,
disturbing the air flow and keeping the rear end from lifting, right? Or
maybe not. Sure looked that way last spring when #3 got spun out on the
last lap.
BTW: Blame any spelling errors on MS Spellchecker!!! :-)

Both accidents had one thing in common: they both had other cars for use as
ramps. That's why roof flaps couldn't do a thing for them. The flaps are
designed to work in a flat spin (the most common type) and are easily
useless when pitch comes into play (a 3D spin/tumble).
