Second number is the month (1=January, etc)
Third number is the day
Fourth number is whether or not it's the first or second time the track has
been run during the season (0=first ie Daytona 500, 1=second ie Pepsi 400)
Fifth is whether it's a night or day race (1=night race)
Sixth number is the number of laps for a 100% race.

The first column is obviously the order of the race season.  What do all the
others mean?

I have recently added Daytona as the 31st race using:   31 10  3 0 0
I have seen other people do it different ways.  Besides the order in the
calander what is the difference?

Thanks for any light you could shed on this one for me.

Close:  the 4th number is whether it's a RESTRICTOR PLATE race (1)
or NOT (0).

The 4th number denotes the first or second race (0 or 1) at the track
during a season and determines which temperature range from the
track.txt is used (TEMP1 or TEMP2).

This is correct.  The restrictor plate is added and removed in the track.txt
file.  If memory servers it is the first number in the "speedway" line.
