For that performance with full detail you are gonna' have to wait for an
MMX P200...<G>
On a more serious note Alexandre, in my estimation to achieve that SVGA
FPS with full detail on (including sky) you will need more than an
iP166.
I have a iP133 and the iP166 doesn't really offer that much of a
performance improvment in terms of bang for the buck.
Sky texture really eats frame rate. Having it on reduces 16fps to 11fps
on my iP133.
With an iP166 and *ALL* detail except sky texture on, I'd estimate frame
rate to average around the 19-20fps mark. Can anyone with a properly
clocked well constructed iP166 confirm either way?
This would certainly be very drivable from an eyeball perspective IMO.
A Cyrix may give you more due to it's 75MHz bus, although I'm unsure of
how much of GP2's physics emulation require the FPU for number
crunching. Quite a lot in realistic mode I'd guess, and the Intel may
have the edge here.
Again, has anyone got more quantitive info on the use of the FPU in GP2?
I'd like to hear from any Cyrix P166+ users re their impressions of
overall performance in GP2. Similarly of iP166 users.
Hope this assists Alexandre.
