Do any of you guys experience alot of static in the sound in Nascar 4.  I
know I'm running an older audio card, its the Diamond MX-300, that I'm still
happy with!  Just wondering if others with this same card, or with the SB
Live is experiencing this also.

thanks

No problems with static with my Live card.
Do you have the latest drivers for your MX300?

Got a SBLive and although the sound is not as good as I would have hoped
it's not nearly as bad as NH.
Most annoying thing I've noticed so far is that the balance is off. Right
speaker is louder than the left. Doesn't have the wall rattling bass that N3
does either. :(

I have static too with my 300.  I am almost tempted to buy a SBLive, as the
MX only worths with my VIA base mobo with the Vortex reference drivers......
(Never, EVER buy a VIA based mobo.  At least, I won't again.....)

Yeah.

SoundBlaster Live! Gamer.

The spotter sounds particularly raspy.  Like someone shoved a fuzz-pedal
down his throat :)

Try in this order to solve the static and/or popping sound problem with vortex 2
sound cards:

1. Upgrade to latest Aureal  Vortex 2 reference drivers (v2048 drivers):

http://www.windrivers.net/company/aureal/drivers/index.htm

2. Still have cracking, try using  DirectSound in N4 sound options screen,
instead of A3D

3. Still no luck, try turning off 3D sound.

My experience proved that upgrading to the v2048 reference drivers solved the
problem with my MX300.
