What is the next big racing sim you are anticipating this year ???

by Olly Greenfiel » Fri, 22 Mar 2002 19:30:17

I am not sure what is due out this year that is expected to be interesting ?
Does anyone have an opinion as to what will be the next outstanding sim that
significantly improves sim racing, beyond just updated driver rosters and
the like. Is anything truly amazing due out in the next year or so, or are
we simply due for more of the same incremental improvements ?

TOCA Race Driver looks VERY interesting -- the storyline may be unique
and immersive enough to make this one a winner.  Mercedes-Benz
Champions also shows a lot of promise.

Same here.. I played a copy for an hour and didn't enjoy racing the
trucks. Still bought it though because it's a damn good sim and
deserved to be bought. My copy is still wrapped in the plastic :)

MB Champions is indeed being developed by the same
folks (Synetic) that produced MBTR.  Release is
currently set for Q3.

The really great thing about MBTR was that it improved my times in F1CS2K by
1-2 seconds per lap, immediately after playing it.  Something about
controlling the momentum of those trucks through proper braking really
helped when getting back into cars a fraction of their mass...

"anticipating" may be to strong of a word, but I'm curious about the Hooters
Pro cup game in the works. I'm a short track fan and since this is a short
track series it has my interest. Although I'm expecting to be pretty weak
when it come to a being a sim.

I read a little bit about this somewhere.. yes, there is a story in
Toca Racer.. an example I read was that at a certain point in the game
your mechanic becomes ill or something like that, and from that moment
on you can't let your mechanic tune your car anymore, you have to do
it yourself..
My first reaction was 'ridiculous' but now I think it's actually a
very fresh and novell idea :)

Nascar Racing 2002.5 Season with all the stuff that
should have been in Nascar 3.5, but that was called
Nascar 4, and they carried over all new bugs into
Nascar Racing 2002 but it is out of date now, because
Nascar changes the rules every week, so we really
need a weekly update to Nascar Racing 2002 Season with
the current rule changes. Just wait til this weekend
at Bristol with the new pit road rules, that will be
a real fiasco !

DOH !!! Are ya confused yet :>)
