The attitude of your question(as perceived by me) was nothing but whining and
***ing.  It made me respond that way.  I guess I was having a bad day, sorry.
If you had asked like you just did(a more civil tone), I would have responded
in kind.
I haven't contributed any enhancements either, but I don't send messages that
say "WTF is *taking* so long???" either.

But I *did* say to be patient, remember?  He's working on something now...

>I'm sick of all these ***s telling me I should go on my knees because
>Dave Noonan gave us 2 tracks months ago. I have a right to ask a question
>without getting kicked.

It wasn't the question, but the rude way in which it was framed:

"Why doesn't Dave Noonan do anything at all for GPL anymore?
If he lost interest, why doesn't he share the code to let others make
tracks?"

It sounds like you expect or think you deserve something from Mr.
Noonan. Maybe not what you intended, but that's how it reads.

But isn't there a professional wrestler now acting as a governor somewhere?

The supposition is Goy's.  He could be right, but without proof...:)
personally, I'd like to see a note in the GP3 credits that "thanks" Dave
Noonan,  that would cement the tie fairly well.

Supposition ???

Ok, have *you* ever seen Geoff Crammond and David Noonan together ?

As for the "tie", if he uses David Noonan as an alias, why would he be
mentioned in the credits ? no need to thank himself is there.....

Dave,

I personally think that David Noonan is a "pen" name used by one of the
programers at Papyrus. Case in point is Brands Hatch. Is anyone going to
tell me that one person,no matter how great of a prgrammer he or she is, has
all the skills and experise needed to create a track from scratch with the
level of detail that Brands has.

Your *** theory is false.  David is a person with great technical
abilities.  Be sure he isn't even the only one with that knowledge, but he
was the person with the best understanding to apply it the correct way.

You just need patience and ***ion.

frankly - the Brands Hatch is amazing...

Clearly the guy has no friends / family / life outside of his computer
screen.

ANY other way and the sheer enormity of the project, the dedication to
the track and the game, and intense hard work of research etc..and it
would never have got finished.

Anyone trying any others..

1. You are wrong, he's Geoff Crammond I tell you...:-)

2. Yes, he *has* those skills and expertise, now whether or not he in
fact did it all on his own or used stuff from other people to make the
first "user" track for GPL I don't know, but the skills are there, and
if it wasn't for the fact that he *has* a life outside of sim editing,
who knows *what* we would have seen by now....

And the last item there is one I wish Papy (and others) would look into,
making their sims more open ended, allowing, maybe even encouraging, the
user base to create tracks and other add-on's for their stuff and
charging a few $'s for it, just imagine what stuff we could have seen by
now if guys like David Noonan (and others) could do this at least part
time ?

A dream....

Probably a better idea would be to make every racing sim developed by
any one manufacturer to be completely compatible with every other racing
sim created by the same manufacturer.  I.E. Make N2 completely
compatible with N1, N3, N4.  Each being compatible with each other.  AND
Make GPL compatible with the NASCAR series sims. AND make ICR 1,2,3..
compatible with GPL and NASCAR(s).. ect..  That way, at least for me, We
wouldn't get board with running the same tracks over and over and over.

Maybe we could do one better.. create a converter and place it on the
CD of the newest game(s) so that we could convert the old games with the
new one.  Every time a new game was created, create a new converter so
that that game can use the old games.. you know what I mean.  We'd end
up with a game that will never get boring because of the lack of tracks.

Not a knock against his work, but the Brands Hatch track has several
graphical errors that fit more with the work of a skillful amateur rather
than someone inside the company.
