You can check the latest development update (posted in January) at
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
very much in progress, they're currently slaving away very *** the game
and a lot less online then before, so that's a good sign. Also, some people
speak about a 'gagging' order, but that's not been the case for at least a
month now. They have two new producers, who are very willing to help out
websites at the moment, that's why that development update ended up on our
site as well.

I think it's a bit harsh claiming this is vapoware, as the game has always
been planned for Q2 2001 and has been moved to Q3 2001. A 3-month delay
isn't that much in the *** community. You're not seeing much new
screenshots at the moment, because the West Brothers have worked on a lot of
seperate things and they're currently putting them together. So there wasn't
much new stuff to show the past couple of months (while work DID go on of
course).

So, I hope this answers your question and clears up some of the confusion. I
never got the idea that the game wouldn't be released or that it would be
released in two or three years time instead of this year. Have been
following the development on a weekly basis.

Hi!

I don't think so. Let me remember about a nice little GPL tool that was to
be released the forthcoming night and we never saw it. Recall its name? Does
'GPaL' mean something to you?
Oh no, now I've wakened the titan again *runshisassoff* *vbg*

I absolutely don't expect that it will become vaporware, but I do
expect some more delays.. The West Bro's seem perfectionists (thank
god) and I don;t think they will release it before it's done.

I rather wait some more untill the game is finished than to see a game
released while it's not ready (Nascar Heat, Nascar 4).

Good question.. I wonder if we will be racing wheel'less race cars by
then? Like in "Back to the Future II".. <g>

| Because I'm too lazy to try and dig out the URL for the West Brothers
| site, I'll ask here: what's become of their long-gestating WSC sim? Is
| it just vaporware, or is it really gonna be launched? Seems that by the
| time it gets out of the gate (at this rate) they're going to have to
| change their carsets, or make it a "Legends" thing...

>I wouldn't count on that. Empire is known to push games out the door

Unfortunately we see that more and more.. games being released with
errors that become apparent within 5 minutes of playing.. We can only
hope the West Bro's do have some influence on the time of release, to
avoid a Nascar Heat like product.. great engine, allready an allmost
forgotten game due to it's many errors.

What was it with Battle of Britain by the way? I thought about buying
it, I read a couple of good reviews, but it also has some big
problems?

Not necessary, Jack promised me to mail me as soon as the installer is
ready, since I'm a beta tester.. So I check my mail ten times a day
for two years now to see if Jack mailed me..

Well, I hate to sound negative (no, really...!), but so far all the
screen shots have been (according to the captions I've seen, anyway)
static -- that is, NOT generated by the graphics engine of the sim
itself. I don't know doodlum-squat about coding, but I think I'd have a
warmer fuzzy if the core engine of the thing was up and running ...
wouldn't I?

Yeah, me too. I know it's not on topic, so email me privately if you
like, but what's the bad news on BoB?

Hi Barton

Sorry to have to correct you on this, but so far every screenshot from WSC
has been taken directly from the game :O)  No fakeing or touching up at all,
as I hope anyone who has seen the game at E3 or ECTS can back me up on this
one :O)

What is GPaL?
I don't think I have that utility yet.

Bart, I hope you're happy now.  WSC will be delayed another two
minutes for Chris to make this reply.  :)
