I have heard some hype about NASCAr 3...since I know some papy guys like
to lurk, here are some ideas..some mine..some I have picked up off the
web..

1) FLIPPING!
2) more realistic accidents
3)track editing/new tracks
4)moving pit crew
5)roof flaps when you get backwords
6)infiels more like in real life (tally!)
7)FIRE!
8)oil slicks and water from accidents
9)tow trucks
10)I hate the magic spin recovery!
11)the roads through the infield!
12)if an accident is bad, have an ambulence come out
13)unexpected rain (middle of race..red flag till it is over)
14)more cars!
15)not only flips, but barrel rolls, high in the air, crashing back down
16)cut tires on debris
17)able to make hand signals at other drivers
and last but not least
18)chuck water bottle at earnhardt option!

Also...

The ability to start your engine, and have the starting grid roll from the
pits, and have STRAIGHT pit roads.  It would be cool to be able to drive
through the garage area too, and into your stall before working on your
setup.

Other than the above and the ones already listed, I think it would be the
ultimate!

You're joking of course...  All of those are just bells and whistles...
You want flips, play NFS, you want more realistic accidents, play
Destruction Derby.  I don't know about you, but I would take a chance at
saying that the real Nascar SIM racers spend most of the time on the track
racing... not wrecking or looking at the scenery

Just My Opinion

I would like a clutch added and a neutral gear. Possible
random engine problems that are fixable in the pits.

Aside from creating a more realistic AI (say one that "learns" grooves
and passing manuevers from the human driver and doesn't give up racing
once it's passed by the human driver) there are 2 critical needs in N3:

1)  Double file restarts

2)  Changing track conditions as the race progresses.  Say we start with
a groove to a groove and half, that changes to a 2-3 groove race track.
Track temperature changes.

3) (oops -- <g>)  Curbs and the proper affects of using & abusing them.

4) (well since I've already stepped over the line).  Brakes locking up
under heavy braking and brake wear at tracks like Martinsville.

5)  Maybe an engine shop with dyno and a few trips to the wind tunnel.
(These things I remember from the Ferrari Formula 1 sim way back....)

6)  Real pit stall assignments

Now, I know that this is a tall order.  So take your time & create the
ultimate sim.  Let's start breaking some "new ground".  However, in the
meantime, this means that we need to enjoy NASCAR2 a little longer, so
please spend some time fixing the few remaining sim-crippling AI-bugs.

I feel the same way, but those bells and whistles add to realism we expect
in a sim.  I too could get caught up adding my own list of features I would
like to see in the next version.  My only suggestion to the 'sim' authors
is to make it seem as real as possible.  That's it, just keep adding to the
simulator and I'll keep forking out my money to who ever comes the closest
to it.

Frankly, I'd just be happy if it loaded and played as advertised,
something
NASCAR 2 failed to do.

Here are my list important to least important.

1.) better AI, better driving skills and the whole pack dosen't crash out
in the tri oval. Pit Stradegy, not just a number defined in some text file.

2.) More realistic car physics, of course, this also includes more set up
options ect. But would also include air-born cars.
3.) Oil on the track, debris cut tires.
4.) Something tells me that it is a lot harder to blow a tire from wear
than it is in the game. I don't see very many blown tires due to wear in
real lfe unless it is rubbing or is set up very poorly. Not to mention how
easy the tires fly off.
5.) Ability to get the real feel of a race such as driving from your pit,
and starting your motor. Possibly the whole menu, would be able to be ran
by driving around the pits. ESPN for replays ect. :)
6.) Longer replays, I know this has to do w\ ram, but coulden't it be done
more efficiently?
7.) I think the grafics are fine. The game would be much more playible once
all those new pentiums and acceleators come out, and we'll all end up w\ 60
fps.

How about timed practice sessions and happy hour??
 Two day qualifying??
When practicing and coming back into the pits for changes, keep the
rest of the field out on the track running laps??
 Double file restarts??

Man, I thought I was the only one to remember that one.  I've often
wondered why none of the current sims use some ideas from that game.  I
liked how you had to allow time for traveling to a track and such when
practising, and the test track was quite cool also.  Things like this,
done properly, could add a lot to a sim.

I'd like to see qualifying where if you don't run fast enough, you have
to use a provisional, second-day qualifying, and having to start at the
back of the pack if you wreck during the practices.  If I remember, the
Ferrari F1 game gave you time limits on race weekend, where you had X
hours to work on the car, and replacing the engine would take a portion
of that time, etc.  As most Winston (or whatever it will be next year
<g>) Cup teams do now, run a "qualifying" motor and a race motor, just
like you did in FF1, and you had to allow for the time to change them
out.

So, basically, it would be cool to have some off-track type stuff
integrated into N3, could really make it more of a simulation of the
whole sport.  But make it an option for those who don't want to mess
with it.
