I think the LX4 will end up being my favourite... Not as tough as the LX6,
but delightfully squirrely all the same. Plus, it's a kind of race car that
hasn't been exactly done to death in other sims! Now if I could only get
the top off...?

I don't mind having the roof, but I'd like to be able to see though the
windows in all the cars so I can look though the car ahead to see the road,
brakelights & stuff.

I didn't spend much time with the LX4 tonight, but having read a few other
comments similar to yours I think I will tomorrow ;-)

Around $20, depending on the exchange rate.
It cost $19.60 when I got it yesterday.

It's just him.  You don't even need to install the game, only unzip it into
a directory.  However, it does need to be unlocked with a key to get all of
the new tracks/cars.

Yes, it was that bad at the time.  I guess you weren't one of the first
people to d/l and try to activate it as the servers were getting hammered...

Just me, because I didn't have enough free space on my HD for both the zip file

Hmmm... maybe in a week or two, right now I have other (more urgent) expenses.
If I've read correctly what's on their website, they don't have any problems
charging Visa debit cards, right?

I'd imagine this would work like shareware apps.  One activation and you're
done, not like your MS Quicken woes with continuous pestering...

Sadly that doesn't appear to be the case.

From what I understand if you copy the folder, format your drive &
re-install the same OS (ie maintenance) and copy the folder back it will
continue to work.
If you upgrade your PC it may need to be re-registered, and if you run out
of keys, you can mail the devs for assistance. In this respect it's very
much like the Microsoft system.

Fortunately this is not Microsoft we're talking about ;-)

If  don't have 280MB of space, then this is the least of your problems :)

Interesting question:  What happens if these folks decide to pack it in ?

Same thing that happened with gpl & the no-CD patch they included in the CPU
fix.

Essentially they haven't really thought that far ahead yet (understandably)
but wanted to get the game out quickly, and this was the most reliable copy
protection they could come up with in the time available. Scawen more or
less said that if the time comes that the lfs dev team get bored with it &
move on, they'll more than likely put out a patch to remove the registration
requirement. Abandonware basically.

That time is pretty far off though, so don't hold your breath.

>If  don't have 280MB of space, then this is the least of your problems :)

I'm constantly having to burn things as I d/l them from the Internet, I have
~1,5GB which I can use to download and install things, or as workspace. The
problem arises when I've been downloading without burning ASAP... I've been
repeating myself that I need to buy a new HD very urgently, but keep having
other expenses...
