MGPRS2 - Screen resolution ?

by Simo » Wed, 23 Dec 1998 04:00:00

Hi,

I just got MGPRS2 and was wondering what kind of resolution I can run it in.

My system is a Pentium 2 - 333 mhz
128 Mb ram
Matrox Millenium 2Mb
3DFx 4Mb (Voodoo1)

I noticed in the configurations menu, that there is a button saying
640x480 - but nothing seems to happen when I press it - it just stays on
640x480.
Am I doing something wrong or is my old Voodoo1 card ready for an exchange
with a Voodoo2?

Any help appreciated,

Simon

Same thing with me (Canopus Pure 3D - Voodoo1).  Apparently 640x480 is all you
get with the V1.  So either MGPRS2 uses z-buffering, or all they coded for the
V1 is the 640x480.  Either way, you're stuck unless you change out to a V2 (or
risk the OpenGL mode and get a TNT or similar).

My Viper550 does not work with MGPRS2. It gives me jumbled video.
I have a Monster3D II (12meg), also, and a PII 450, I can not run 800x600
smoothly. When ever I drive by one of those big screen monitors, the frame
rate drops bad. It looks great in 640x480 any way.

With the jumbled video you should make sure you turn mipmapping off in the
TNT control panel and see if that helps. Also of course make sure you aren't
running anything except systray, explorer and anything essential in the
ctrl+alt+del menu before you start the program.

I'm not getting my copy 'till Christmas Morning:-(

But I have had a go of it before and I'm not sure exactly how to change it
but this is my best idea of it:

1. Either click on the resolution figures or else there is a button next to
it,
2. Set the resolution to the highest amount from the selections.

You first have to set your monitors properties to a high amount before the
game will let you set them to a high amount,

Hope this works:-)

Thanks for the ideas, but I am running 1024*768 already on my desktop so I
presume that my monitor is already set up. Besides I am running GPL in
800*600 so why can I not run the same resolution in MGPRS2 ?

When I click the "640*480" button - it is like clicking a greyed button in
Windows - nothing happens.
Is it because I am only using a Voodoo1 card or what ?

You can only run in 640/480 with a V1.

Ubi Soft released a FAQ about the game I  just saw they had a chart with
different 3d cards and the resolutions they should be set at and I think
that for a voodoo 1 that resolution is about as good as it'll come.
