Copyright violations and webpages - please help

To make a long story short, someone has recently posted a webpage with
nothing but my Days of Thunder cars for nascar 1 on it.  To make things
interesting, he has attached a file to these cars saying that he designed
them.  After politely asking this person to remove my cars several times,
he has refused.  His first reply said that he had modified my cars, which
he later changed to stating that he created them to begin with.  It is
obvious he has not changed a single pixel, but he still refuses to remove
them.  No one from geocities has given any advice.  I have kept all of his
messages as well as the messages I sent him if that helps any.

What would be the best thing to do here?

Ron Jon's from SimSpeed and claimed it as his own.  I sent a mesasage to
the webmaster of the page asking him to correct the credit on the car. I
suggest you post the page that stole your car and we can all either
avoid the paghe or flood him with e-mail requesting a fix to your
situation.  It really makes me mad when people steal complete cars and
call them their own!!!

Brian,

I dont know much about the legal aspects of this, but I do know that
whoever is doing this is pretty low. You might just want to announce
publicly who this person is. There is no way that someone else should
get/take credit for your fine work. I dont understand it. Brian has
made custom cars for lots of us (LSM included). Why would someone
sink so low and be so stupid as to do a thing like this?
Thanks for your great work Brian!  The majority of us know who really
did the "Days of Thunder Cars".
Regards,
Bob

Unless you went out and got em copyrighted, yer screwed.  Right now
nothing on MY page (which has nothing to do with NASCAR) is
copyrighted and it is just inviting em to steal stuff.  Hopefully they
wont but thats life.

If you know of where you can get legitimate, inexpensive and genuine legal
advice I would suggest you seek same.  I don't know how the "copyright" law
would stand up here because you have actually used someone else's creation
to create your own liveries. Don't take that the wrong way....it's just
that the 3-D and 2-D shapes that you are "repainting" were not created by
you.  Also, how would you stand when it comes to you having reproduced
various liveries, which include registered and copyrighted logos and
advertising slogans?  Follow my meaning?

That's why an expert legal opinion may be the best way to start any action.

Maybe with the picture at the upper left of the screen (with the
blank.pcx file.  I don't think that (AFAIK) you can extract a picture
from a .CAR file.  Web site (like IWCCARS, NPW or SPEED) now put their
logo at the bottom of the picture.  Thanks a lot,

You can't extract a PCX, but why would you want to?  All you have to do is
import a new PCX to cover up the original one, and you have a car w/out
credit given to the author.
