Busch and NCTS for N2002?

WHere did you see that?  As soon as the rumour of any expansion pack or add-on started floating
around, I remember it being shot down by someone from papy.  In other words, almost completely
opposite of what you have written.  Do you have any reference to something stating that?

As much as it pains me Eric, you are correct. I read from somone on Papy's
N4 forum (may have been you or a developer or a mod) that there was to be no
expansion pack for N4. Also, it went on to state that support (patches) from
N4 was also gone due to moving on to a *new* project which I am now guessing
was NR2002... I hate that an expansion pack has to make so much money that
they aren't even considered anymore. To me, the trucks were more fun to
drive, as would Busch cars with their similar HP and shorter wheel base. Why
can't Papy's code be worked on like Heat's could? At least someone invented
trucks and even some open wheel models for theirs even though the NR series
from Papy has always been my fav...

I don't think Papyrus has changed their philosophy at all.  Maybe the
publisher has, but I would hesitate to blame the developer without
sitting in on design meetings.  On the other hand, as we've seen,
Sierra is willing to support Papyrus efforts when it comes to Nascar
Winston Cup but that's about it.  If Sierra said "make an expansion
pack" I think Papy would jump at the chance.

Really? It went like hot cakes around here. Of course it could have just
been all my buddies that bought it up. :)

Do you remeber what it was like over on the Seirra boards with N4? A buddy
had some of the Seirra guys all but swearing at him. I think alot of the
"should have been a patch" flack is more for the ones that were not happy
with N4. Its just human nature to want something for nothing so of course
everyone wanted it to be a patch.

I never go near the sierra boards for just such reasons.  If I am understanding what you are saying
is, anyone that considered the N4 should have been a patch for N3 is just nuts.  Everyone of course
is entitled to their opinion, but even if they feel 2002 should have been a patch, then they are
missing something.

I recall a Papyrus or Sierra employees, either on WON or the Sierra board,
telling there would be an expansion pack.  I'm almost sure of this, 99%
sure.  He probably wasn't in the know, or was just telling anything.
Probably the later.

Indianapolis 500
IndyCar Racing
Nascar Racing
IndyCar Racing 2
Nascar Racing 2
SODA : Off-Road
Nascar Racing : 1999 Edition
Grand Prix Legends
Nascar Racing 3
Nascar Legends
Nascar Racing 4
Nascar Racing 2002

I have ommited the expansion packs or re-release (except NR1999).  If you
cut through that list in half, you will clearly see that Papyrus is now
nothing more, then a Stockcar game company.  Whatever Sierra's intentions
are to force Papyrus, they cannot deny it.

I would agree with that.  I just feel like it's unfair to blame
Papyrus for the lack of open-wheeled sims since GPL when people like
Dave Kaemmer have indicated that they'd jump at the chance to do one.

It's really sad that Sierra has no interest in a new openwheeled sim.
Back when Indycar 2 came out and I still had a 486 66, I couldn't even
go back to Nascar 1, and I was primarily a Nascar fan then who still
steered with the keyboard.  I can't even imagine how thrilling a GPL2
or an Indycar 3 or even a sportscar or modern F1 sim would be if it
used the current refinements of the GPL engine.  Nascar 2002 is great,
and I love oval racing in stock cars, but it would be fantastic to
have something road-course oriented lightweight cars.

Is there anyone at Sierra who can lobbied for this sort of thing,
assuming it's their decision to not have one?

Seriously, I'm wondering if a coordinated, polite "is there going to
be an expansion pack for N2002?" or "is there going to be a sequel to
GPL or ICR?" campaign could be of some use.  Nothing rude or
demanding, but I have to wonder how Sierra would react if we could
generate a few hundred email messages a day for a short while asking
them about new products.  I'm guessing that other than purchasing the
latest Papy games, this is all we can really do to demonstrate our
enthusiasm and hunger for more products to your publisher.

understanding what you are saying
nuts.  Everyone of course
a patch, then they are

I think its nuts to expect a company to give away the level of change in
nr2002 as a patch. However I feel a company is nuts to put out something as
unfinished as N4 was. If anything I wish I never would have bought N4 that
was the real error. NR2002 has brought the fun back for me much like it was
in N3. You are so right that if someone passes on NR2002 its their loss.
